Sheriff Sam Parker Indicted For Letting Favored Inmates Have Access To Drugs, Sex And Booze And Sleep Outside Jail

COLUMBIA, S.C. — An indictment charges a veteran South Carolina sheriff let some favored inmates sleep outside jail with access to television and alcohol and that he gave away weapons to people he knew.

Sheriff Sam Parker in Chesterfield County denied charges outlined Wednesday in an indictment that also alleged chosen inmates had unsupervised visits with women.

From what the defense attorney says in that article I would guess there might be some concerns there.
Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Please view the video at the link also....many more details of what they were allowed to do, such as live out of the jail, cooked and did repairs for the sheriff at home, drove sheriff dept. vehicles without a license, sometimes with deputies with them, over a 10 year period...Now, the Governor has suspended him....

    From March 2015:

    http://www.kpho.com/story/28263246/s...ced-confession

A man who admitted to raping, then killing a Kershaw County woman in 2011 has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole... While in court, Miller admitted to abducting 30-year-old Hope Melton, raping her, then beating her to death with a baseball bat. He had nothing to say when given a chance to do so by the judge.

Some of Melton's family were outraged and angry at a sheriff who was recently convicted of corruption and severely jeopardized the case... Johnson said Sheriff Parker got a confession from Miller under the illegal “promise" he wouldn't seek the death penalty... Parker had a DOC inmate guard some of the case's evidence, did other things to complicate evidence forensics, and then was indicted for corruption...

The family said it's still waiting for an apology from Parker.

Former Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker is expected to be released from prison next month after serving one year of a two year sentence for misconduct in office embezzlement and furnishing contraband to inmates, according to Peter O'Boyle with the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.

O'Boyle said Parker is being released early because his convictions are non-violent and he got credit for good time, which shortened his time behind bars. He added Parker will be placed on probation for three years following his release.
