Mom Leaves Daughter In Car While Gambling

A San Jose woman is accused of leaving her five-year-old daughter locked in a car for hours as she gambled the night away inside a casino. ABC7 spoke to the woman's neighbors who say they're not surprised.

Christine Medina's neighbors say they've complained about a mobile home on Saddle Brook Drive for almost two years.

They weren't surprised to hear their 44-year-old troubled neighbor was arrested again.

They saw her taken in by police just a few weeks ago.

Manny Barreda, neighbor: "One evening the San Jose police department showed up and they were trying to kick down the door. They were trying to get in and serve her a warrant."

This time, Medina was arrested just after dawn outside the Thunder Valley Casino in Placer County.

Authorities say Medina left her five-year-old daughter alone in the car for hours while she gambled inside.

About 6:30 in the morning, a passerby noticed the child crying and called police.

Medina was charged with "willful cruelty to a child", and "drug possession."

You know, that the little girl was lucky that she was found by someone who cared enough to call the police.

They found her at 6:30am, I'll bet the mother left her sleeping in the car when she went to gamble.

I'm always amazed when they talk to neighbors/family who say they are not surprised, if people think something is wrong, especially when a child is involved they need to step up.

    Casshew I love your bunnies!
