U.S. Army Sgt. Marquinta Jacobs, who pleaded guilty for the shooting death of 51-year-old Lloyd R. Gilbert at Fort Knox, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday, The Associated Press reported. Jacobs had pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges of premeditated murder and aggravated assault.
The judge in the court martial also gave Jacobs a dishonorable discharge and a demotion in rank in the U.S. military. The Army Corrections still will decide where Jacobs will serve his sentence.
