Does anyone see a resemblance to Fonda Lockridge? I'm not particularly good with post-mortem photographs and it is hard to compare as Ms. Lockridge's photograph is a side shot of the right side of her face while the UID's two photographs are lying down on the exam table, although one is a side shot from the left side. Also, the UID's face seems a bit swollen as if she were battered?

Also, DNA, dentals, and fingerprints are available for both the UID and Ms. Lockridge so wouldn't she likely have been ruled out by now? Dentals and fingerprint charting are apparently available in NamUs for both so I am wondering if comparisons would have been done automatically given basic parameters are met (example: gender, race, height, weight, date found is after date last seen)? Sorry, still have newbie questions!

Comments:
A Fonda Lockridge is listed as deceased on an "In Memory" page on the Ottawa Hills High School Class of 1986 site (link here). Unsure if this is the same person since Ms. Lockridge is still listed as missing, but in 1986, she would have been 17 which fits her being in high school. Ottawa Hills High School is in Grand Rapids, MI per the class site emblem and Ms. Lockridge is listed as missing from there.

What would make her profile interesting is if there is a resemblance to the UID, helped by:

  • Her age in 1998 fits into the UID's range (28-29 vs. 19-39 years old).
  • She is listed as 110 lbs. while the UID is measured at 104 lbs. She is listed as 5 ft. 4 in. while the UID is 5 ft. 3 in.
However, opinions might be that she does not resemble the UID plus:

  • Disappearance date of almost exactly three years prior to the UID being located (June 15, 1995 vs. May 17, 1998).
  • Ohio borders Michigan, but it is still over 300 miles away. Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/tsm6p

She does look quite similar. I'm not sure I'd say that this is the same person, but I can't see anything that looks conclusively different.

I wish there was a more direct view of her right ear. The ears look somewhat different, but the difference might just be based on the difference in viewing angle.

Jacqueline's casefile is now restricted. I wonder if I should read anything into that.

How about this woman? She sure looks like the Jane Doe.

And the vital stats (except weight) are all pretty much in line.

Jacqueline Rowe has ben matched to an old UID case, but not this one.

http://www.wkbn.com/news/local/remains-of-woman-idd-after-17-years

The Mahoning County Coroner's office has finally been able to identify the remains of Jacqueline Rowe of Youngstown, who was last seen in July of 1996. Her badly decomposed body was found the day after Christmas that year in a garage beside a vacant house on the city's North Side.

I was sure she was going to be a match to this UID (UP 4747), but she was matched to NamUs UP 4755.

I think that Michelle C. Eason looks like this Jane Doe. She disappeared in September 1997. She was 26, 5 feet 2 inches tall and 115 pounds. This Jane Doe had drugs in her system and the doe network says that Eason used drugs at the time of her disappearance.

Here is her Doe Network Page:
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/2070dfny.html

Side by side. This looks like a very good possibility. The resemblance is pretty close; the skin color difference could be the lighting. Poughkeepsie is about 10 hours from Columbus, but it's a straight shot via I-84 to any of several major interstates.

How sad this case is. Here are some possible matches, I tried to take the height, weight, complexion (her skin looks lighter but I'm not sure if that's due to the photos being post-mortem) and distinguishing marks such as scars into account.

Snipped by me:

Determining the age of remains is fascinating. When I took a forensic class a couple of years back, they told us that in a lot of cases, they won't be able to tell more than "adult." There are some very pronounced signs of aging that set in after a certain point (arthritis, smoothing of skull sutures, dental wear and decay, for example), and there are definite signs of physical immaturity (teeth and growth plates being the most well known and most reliable), but between those points there aren't a lot of markers.

And then each of those characteristics is a scale--some people get their wisdom teeth early, or late, for instance. Some older women have very robust bones while some are very fragile. A young woman who did a lot of physical labor might have arthritis in her back similar to what is more common in a middle-aged woman. And they aren't necessarily in synch. (I'm talking in the abstract here, not about this particular case.) If the remains show, for instance, the arthritis in the back, but unerupted wisdom teeth, that might indicate a young woman with a physical job and early arthritis, or it might be a middle-aged woman whose wisdom teeth never came in.

So the post-mortem nearly always returns a range, not an absolute age, and sometimes it can be quite a wide range.
