At least 12 people and as many as 14 have been injured in the incident at Lone Star College's CyFair campus in Cypress, according to CNN affiliates KHOU, KTRK and KPRC, which are citing authorities.

Authorities have detained one suspect, and another might be at large, the school said in a statement.

"There are multiple injuries and conflicting reports on the total number of victims and severity of injuries,"the school's statement said. "We an confirm that several people have been transported to area hospitals."

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a suspect was taken into custody. Deputies previously said they were searching for a second suspect, but investigators said they believe a single suspect was running from building to building.

Investigators said a student tackled the suspect and that helped them capture the man.

Local reports say a student in a classroom used an X-ACTO knife and began to attack fellow students and ran out of the room. Police could not immediately confirm the reports.
"The initial reports said we have two suspects, but what I believe now is it was the same person running from building to building," a police spokesman said at a press conference .

Any inkling of motive yet? Did he just snap, or did he have a cause, God forbid?

Quick was well-known on campus because he often carried a sock monkey puppet. Michael Chalfan said Quick would ask the puppet questions, then answer them. Chalfan said other students made fun of Quick and said he looked like the comedian Carrot Top.

Just last week, Quick was featured in a blog about how far he had come and "the battles he fought and won."

The KHOU 11 News I-Team dug up the blog called, "I came, I saw, I conquered.

The student spotlight published on April 1 describes how Quick began coming to the Harris County Public Library's on-campus branch at age 12 for activities that helped him transform from a withdrawn young man to an outgoing college student.

"Initially reluctant to participate, Dylan was homeschooled and very shy," the post said, adding that his mother, Tiffany, wanted him in a setting "to socialize with other teens and also to be intellectually stimulated."

Interaction was especially important for the youngster who was born deaf and received a cochlear implant at age 7. The device allowed him to learn English, the profile said. Tiffany Quick removed her son from public school when he "stagnated" in a classroom for students with special needs.

Neighbors described Quick as a loner - usually in the company of his protective parents - who was often seen doing yard work at their home about six miles from the Lone Star-Cy Fair campus.

He's like a quiet kid," said Ray Quiroz, who lives across the street. "I thought to myself: Maybe he didn't have a social life outside of his home."

    Ugh, so sick of this...

On our local ABC broadcast news it was reported that Dylan Quick told LE he had been having fantasies about stabbing people for a long time and planned this attack.

    ETA:

    https://www.facebook.com/fox26houston?ref=stream

BREAKING: The suspect in the stabbings at Lone Star College CyFair has now been charged with 3 counts of aggravated assault. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says Dylan Quick gave a voluntary statement saying he has had fantasies of stabbing people since he was in elementary school and had been planning today's attack for some time. Police say he used a razor-style knife in the attacks that injured 14 people. There were pieces of blade in at least one of the victims, and a handle to a razor-style knife was found in Quick's backpack when he was arrested.
