Mum allegedly poisoned daughter, 4, with chemotherapy drug, leaving her in fight of her little life

April 12, 2013

THE little girl alleged to have been poisoned with chemotherapy drugs is battling a lung infection and "coded" in hospital last night.
Police have accused the girl’s mother of giving her anti-cancer medication over a 10-month period after purchasing it on the internet.

The four-year-old’s devastated grandmother, in an online post, vowed to "keep up the fight" for the seriously ill girl, who remains in the Brisbane Royal Children’s Hospital.

Munchausen's by Proxy?

I'll keep this wee one in my prayers...

The fundraisers have thankfully been shut down by the websites they were on. :twocents:

She was continually taking her to the doctor for this... so I'm guessing MBP is likely.
That is IF she was actually giving her the medication. I don't want to assume. I hope they can prove it.

I DID note that her younger brother had many bruises in a couple of pictures.
I wonder if she started on him and that is what tipped off the hospital to look further?

Or that could mean there is an actual medical issue that is genetic.
I try really hard to keep an open mind... and I hate it when parents do this.

I also hope that they have checked the grandmother who now appears to be in charge of the child. :twocents:

Mom's youtube page, with her videos.
Which... at least raised awareness, even if it was false.
With 7,000 followers maybe some DID register to be a bone marrow donor because of this.
At least that way something good can come out of it.

There is a Justice page now.
Hopefully updates on the girl will be posted here eventually when Grandma finds it.

What a whack job! This 'person' does not deserve to call herself a mother. She should be ashamed of herself. Unfortunately, I don't know if our laws and court system will be adequate enough to give her the sentence she deserves - life in prison. I also hope she doesn't get to hide behind mental illness - this child is so close to death, and if she does survive, it will only be by pure luck and the expertise of the medical staff treating her.

Bless her little heart.

She didn't make much on donations.
Between buying the drug, using the gas to get to appointments and any other things... I don't think she made money on this.
I definitely don't think that was the motive.

The girl's grandfather also pleaded for calm, saying:
"Can I ask you to save the hate and turn all your focus to positive prayerful thoughts for our gorgeous baby.

"(Our) No.1 priority is to get her well.
She's sick guys, and regardless of how she got there we need to get her back so much more than you wonderful people can know.

"Hate isn't going to make her better. Prayers and positive energy and thought will."

Just my opinion as a non-verified humble GP (family doctor)...

Do a Google Search on "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy."

Here is an example of an article, this one is from KidsHealth:

http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/sick/munchausen.html

The fact that it is a mental disorder does not excuse the wrongness of it in any way, just part of explaining what could lead someone to do something so sick and twisted.

How scrambled must someone's brain be, that the natural instinct for a mother to protect her child from harm is not there?

MOO.

Thanks for the info Maddoc!!

On the justice for Bella page, alot of concerned individuals who donated money, been following bella's journey and have met her in hospital. A lot. Of angry folk and rightly so. This mothers alleged actions are inconceivable!

Also a few people have mentioned that the little princess was in fact sicker for longer than 10 months, begs the questions to be answered was this going on longer than 10 months, and / or was the child actually sick and mum beleive she could treat her herself.

It seems ED younger sister has also posted and says "I know what she done is wrong I'm still shocked my whole family is." An admission of the mothers guilt perhaps??

It's actually called factitious disorder by proxy.

It looks like she "relapsed" in March... so maybe that tipped off the doctors?
Is she still having the bone marrow transplant?

Or does this effect her getting that?
Do they just see if she can get better without it, since she's off the meds?

It would be nice to know more...
We could have a situation where the mother was sick of doctors not fixing her daughter and decided to try herself.

What would she need bone marrow transplant for? It doesn't appear she ever had cancer.
