AL - Forest Amell, 20, Pell City, 21 April 2012

One year later, this young man's family is still searching.

Detective Bonnie Lomelli has put in many hours searching for him with no luck.

"We got his cell phone records, we went to cell towers, searched the wooded areas, talked to friends, neighbors, whoever. Right now we're at a standstill," Lomelli said.

Amell's mother says he would have gotten paid the day after he vanished and that he has no car and no motive to suddenly move away.

"We are so worried and so scared, and we know somebody knows something. We are just asking and begging people… to call the Pell City Police Department," Wood said.

It's alarming he took this handgun with him..Either he wanted to harm himself or felt like he needed it for protection wherever he planned to go.

"If you miss forest and is worried about forest like this! Look at how many people r worried about u don't be playin games! U better call me!! U don't even kno what ur getting urself into! U need to contact us! The longer ur gone the harder it will end up I promise that!!!"

Found this on his FB wall, written by a guy that appears to be a good friend. Wonder what he meant by the part in bold? I wonder if the friend knows why he took the gun.

Maybe Forest had gotten in trouble with the law before he disappeared.

    Maybe this is Forest?
This body was located less than an hour from his hometown.

Sheriff's deputies on Thursday were called to the Edgewater community to investigate a report of a missing person. Family members of 25-year-old Gary Anthony Cade told them they were concerned because he hadn't been seen for about three weeks.

Earlier today, Christian said, deputies developed information that led them to a wooded area in the 4000 block of Gilderlseeve Road. It was there, he said, that a male's body was recovered.

    Where are you Forest?
Praying his family has answers soon.

On the Find Forest Amell FB page, they are talking about the remains being him. His gun was found with the remains.

    – The skeletal remains found in a wooded area were positively identified as a man who was reported missing in April 2012.

St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell identified the skeletal remains as those of Forrest Ammel, 21, of Pell City.

Russell said Thursday that Ammel’s cause of death was determined as a gunshot wound to the head, but the manner of death is still undetermined.
