NH - Slippery eel-smuggling suspect caught, cops say

Police capture eel-smuggling suspect in Hampton Falls (wmur.com)
HAMPTON, N.H. —Authorities have arrested a man they believe is involved in an international eel-smuggling operation.
    ---
Police attempted to arrest the man earlier Friday, but he escaped wearing a set of handcuffs on one hand.
    ---
The officer made contact and arrested one suspect, but failed to arrest the second suspect, who began fighting him. The officer pepper-sprayed the second suspect before he ran away into the woods.
    ---
Police tracked the man down to a hotel in Hampton Falls and arrested him there Friday morning.
    ---
State police said eel meat, sold overseas, can be worth $2,000 a pound.

"Last month, a Chinese man was hospitalized after he put an eel in his butt
One can only hope that it wasn't one of the same eels that ended up getting sold as eel meat and eaten."
