Odd, there seems to be a lot of stuff in that neck of the woods... about an hour from New Albany.

Interesting comments under that article. I hope the presser brings good news.

I live not to far from these areas and I agree. I wonder how much of it has to do with the depressed economy.

Murder-suicide, if no manhunt is taking place?k

The men were found in the living room, the woman was in bed behind a locked door.

Ok, weird. Could that imply she committed suicide after killing the others?

Other neighbors reported smelling strange scents and seeing random cars occasionally drive through the streets.

Stevie Furkin, the half brother of victim Shawn Burton, lives next-door to where the homicide occurred and suspects that drugs played a role.

Furkin, 55, claims he had smelled anhydrousammonia coming from next door in the past. It’s one of the main ingredients used to make methamphetamine. Furkin said his half brother had struggled with addiction to the illegal stimulant and was known as “the little cook” for cooking meth.

...Speculating on the nature of the homicide, Furkin said, “It might have been planned, might not have. I wouldn’t have no idea.” But he said he doesn’t worry that there will be more victims: “They’re all dead.”

First I thought she killed them all then went into the bedroom, locked herself in and killed herself. Then I thought she might have been killed by her boyfriend earlier while she was in bed, then he locked the door. Later he killer the other 2 men, then himself. I think the latter makes the most sense.

The killing of four people in a Waynesville residence Saturday were described today as "a very violent and brutal attack."

Those were the words of Bartholomew County Coroner Larry Fisher, who spoke to the media with Sheriff Mark Gorbett.

The sheriff also said several spent shell casings were collected from the crime scene at 2634 E. Main Cross St., as well as methamphetamine.

Gorbett said the homicides are considered to be drug-related.

Strange. On one of our local newstation said the son who found all the victims had been shot by one of the visitors previously but they made up with one another. Going to have to look further to see what news station it was.

Why did he say his mom was probably dead? He even said her door was locked...

Why did he say his mom was probably dead? He even said her door was locked...

The whole phone call was strange.

There were 3 bodies in the living room but he only saw two (the other must have been under the other 2 bodies?).

He may have been in shock (I'm sure he was) and he was probably aware of the drug activity.

And his mother was the only one with stab wounds.

(snipped from article)

Burton: I see the lights.

911: OK, she's almost there.

Burton: A female officer?

911: Yeah.

Burton: That's even better.

I found this in the local paper today. I think the 911 operator did an awesome job!!! Maybe it's just me, but this transcript/phone call threw up several red flags for me??

From scorekeepers link:

Two persons of interest have been interviewed, but there have been no arrests, Gorbett said.

Daniel Burton, the son of Katheryn Burton, who discovered the scene Saturday night, has been cooperative and is not considered a suspect, Gorbett said.
