GA - Arkebia Albury for running over 4yo son, Centerville, 2013

Arkebia Albury faces multiple charges, and the boy is in critical condition with injuries to his head and internal organs, Centerville Police Chief Sidney Andrews said.

As the officer told her to stop, she cranked up the four-door 2001 Toyota Camry, but only the younger child, who is about 2, had made it into the passenger side, Andrews said.

As the security officer rushed to the injured boy, the mother got out and tried to pick him up, ignoring the officer’s pleas to leave him where he was until an ambulance could get there.

“She picks the little boy up and throws him in the car and drives off,” Andrews said.

Good Lord. Poor kids. The sibling had to witness his own mother run over her own child.

Meet Arkebia last September. Theft By Shopliffting.

Also note her mother and sister were in the car while she took the kids into the store.

She probably wanted the kids with her as cover, a mother with two small children is less likely to be accused of theft, and then she runs over one while fleeing and throws him back into the car like a bag of wet laundry.

    June 2013:

Prosecutor Greg Winters said the boy suffers from brain swelling and his family may remove him from life support on Friday. He said he is not sure the boy would survive that...

Her lawyer showed the court a plaque that named Albury the Davis Homes' 'Parent of the Year.' That award was presented in April by the Macon-Bibb County Equal Opportunity Council.

    June 2013 - bond denied.

It was noted that Albury has been transported to the hospital to see her son, but the prosecution contended that it was by no request of Albury’s. Winters said the hospital asked for her to be there.

COMMENTS FROM ADA WINTERS: “The fact that Ms. Albury would take her children with her to commit a crime is not only senseless, it is selfish. As a result of her actions her son was seriously injured, almost losing his life. She is going to prison because she placed her wants and desires over the best interest of her children. As a result her son has suffered, and will continue to suffer, greatly. I can only hope and pray that he can recover from his injuries and hopefully be able to live a productive life.
