The victim was discovered on October 22, 2008 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas
Estimated Date of Death: January 2008

Vital Statistics
Estimated age: 40-60 years old
Approximate Height and Weight: 6'0-6'4".
Distinguishing Characteristics: Several healed fractures including left maxilla under orbit, left and right nasal bones and mandible. The right foot was amputated through all 5 metatarsals. The amputation likely occured close to death. The victim had a metallic fragment embedded in his left hip.
Clothing: Clothing was decomposed. Notebooks found with lot so handwritten notes were found with the decedent.
Dentals: Edentulous

Case History
The victim was located in a homeless camp between Martin Luther King Freeway and its service road, near East Vickery Boulevard.

I was mostly struck by the fact that both are listed as edentulous (with no specific mention of dentures for missing or mention of dentures found with UID), less than 4 hr drive distance between the two, and that Davis has a right club foot and the UID's right foot was amputated. I think it's kind of a stretch but the coincidences are kind of interesting.

Davis has Down Syndrome and that is not mentioned in the UID. I wonder if significant facial trauma (as the UID had) would complicate identification of Down Syndrome in skeletal remains. I did a little research on identification of DS in skeletal remains/skulls and it looks like it's not always a clear cut identification. I thought it was interesting I found only one adult UID case where DS was mentioned...she was found very soon after drowning and even in that case they only said there was a chance she had DS nothing definitive.

NamUs and Doe list Davis as 57 when he disappeared, but LSU and Charley list him as 38 when he disappeared. It's kind of hard to tell in the picture - the younger age would be within in the UID age range and the older one would be just slightly out of it.

Davis disappeared in late 2002 - so a 5-6 year gap... kinda long but it looks like UID was transient so it wouldn't be surprising.

Any thoughts? The only other person I could come up with after some pretty in-depth searching is Lloyd Downey... only because of proximity (same state), similar height, and diabetes. I figure withthe amputation, there's a strong chance the UID was diabetic. The age, time frame and circumstances seem pretty inconsistent though.

Could be. The recon images aren't always very accurate, but what strikes me about the recon is the very wide cheekbones on the John Doe. Mook's cheekbones aren't particularly wide.

But that's a big FWIW. As I said, you can't always rely on the accuracy of a facial recon.

BTW, if the UID had Down's Syndrome, that would show up in the DNA testing. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they would mention it.

I wonder who the best person to contact would be for more information or to see if it's even an active case? It looks like Tarrant County ME is pretty good about putting cases in to NamUs but this guy isn't. I wonder if they took a DNA sample?

The age and height are good. Lawrence was supposed to be traveling to Dallas, was missing 3 front teeth, and had been hit by a car previously - which could account for the facial trauma and possibly the amputation. The time frame is long though... 10 years.

I think Davis resembles the recon the most out of the two but it is hard to picture what some weight loss and age would do to Lawrence.

Profiles kind of sparse but he seems to resemble the recon and he went missing only 2 hours from where the deceased was found.

According to the Doe Network, "The right foot was amputated through all 5 metatarsals. The amputation likely occurred close to death." Since it was amputated through all 5 metatarsals, does this mean that it was probably amputated by a medical professional? That is, is it possible that someone tortured him by cutting off his foot while he was still alive?

I'm sure this already would have hit a match in a database somewhere, but Stanley Driver's foot was found in the Pecatonica River while the rest of his body is still missing.

I was wondering the same thing, Hannah1998 - I'm guessing the amputation was likely surgical as opposed to traumatic, probably as a result of diabetes. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1839900-overview

They've probably checked local county hospitals and ortho clinics (notably JPS and the VA)? I wonder if there was anything useful in the notes or if they might indicate if he was a mental health consumer?
