Ms Roach was last seen was when she left her Hilliard Street home at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. The 58-year-old woman was reported missing three days later. Her Pontiac Montana van was found the same day near the access point to the Trans Canada Trail on Akinson Road. Peterborough County OPP and members of the Central East Region OPP Emergency Response Team have been scouring the area ever since with helicopters, the K-9 unit, all-terrain vehicles and a canoe to search heavily-wooded areas and bodies of water.

Where is Lorraine?

The family is organizing a search for Sunday June 9 in the area where her vehicle was found. LE has searched that area, but the family doesn't want to give up. Here is the FB 'event' page:

Whoops, I forgot to add the link to the quote in my first post and it's too late to edit, so here it is.

From the above mykawartha articles it sounds like Lorraine's husband George saw her leave in their van at 1:30 in the morning. She was reported missing three days later. Was she distressed when she left? Was this unusual behaviour for her? Has she disappeared before? Who reported her missing? Her husband? One of her children?

Here's a photo from a different article. It shows that the OPP have been taking this disappearance seriously and don't think Lorraine just took off.

ETA: I see that ozgirl beat me to it with some of the same questions.

Hanna couldn’t say if police suspect Roach fell victim to foul play or if she chose to leave the area.

Here's a map showing Lorraine's house and where her van was found. It looks like they are approximately 7 km apart, following rural roads.

Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance from anyone who may have seen Roach, her grey 2001 Pontiac Montana van with licence plate BMZD600 or picked up a hitchhiker matching her description in the Ackison and Lily roads area Saturday morning.
Police also request that residents or vacationers in that area check their property, including sheds, barns and outbuildings for any possible sign of the missing woman.
Anyone with information regarding on this missing woman is requested to contact Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit at 705-742-0401 or 1-888-310-1122.

She was not reported as distressed by my father (last to see her and report her missing) when he last saw her. She apparently was home at 2am to pick up more money for the casino. This was not a 'weird' or 'off' time for her to be up/going out. She was a night owl and frequented the casino late at night as well as being up all night at home with insomnia. She has also gone to the casino for extended periods and this did not seem off to us at first (I had called my dad the day before for mothers day and he said she was still at the casino from the night before and it did not seem strange to me or worry me) Also the cab companies did not report picking her up in that time.

The van was found locked and facing south (away from home) It was reported as not being in an accident and did have gas in the tank. It also had her purse inside but not her cell phone or money.

Thank you everyone for the interest. Any help and questions are welcome because it just might turn something up as the investigators still have zero leads or clues. She has left no paper trail (no activity on anything ie cell phone health card credit cards etc) there currently have still been no 'clues' found that she was in the area her van was located either (shoe, matted down grass etc). She also would never of stopped to help or pick someone up or go for a quick pee on the side of the road (previous evidence supports this)

Were so sorry you are going through this and thank you so much for joining and seeking help.

If you don't mind a few questions.

Is your mom one that carries cash in her pockets?

Did she actually get cash when she went home?

Does she have any casino friends that you are aware of?

Have you or LE asked for any CCTV from the casino? I would think they would have that info from at least a few days given that it's a casino.

Here are a couple of links that may help:

Oh Charlotte, I can't imagine what you and your family are going through. It must be so frustrating to have absolutely no solid clues as to what happened to your mother and where she might be.

I see there is a casino (slots?) at Kawartha Downs, south of Peterborough. Is this the casino she frequented? Or did she go further afield to a larger casino like Casino Rama?

I am not that familiar with the Peterborough area, but looking at google maps it looks like the spot where your mother's vehicle was found is between her house and Kawartha Downs. Do you know what route she normally took? Would she have driven down that section of Ackinson Rd? It certainly looks like a reasonable route.

It doesn't make sense that she would stop at that spot late at night....it's very rural and I can't imagine there is much lighting in the area.

Since it's unlikely that your mom would have stopped willingly to pick up a stranger, is it possible that she stopped for gas or cigarettes and someone hid in the vehicle while she was paying? Is there a gas station or other place she might have stopped in at briefly on the way to the casino?

Hopefully there is a simple explanation for all of this and your mother has just taken off for a while and will walk in the door safe and sound!

:please:

We all know how much surveillance the casinos have. If she had already been there, then for sure she would be on video, but did she make it back? In my opinion, the casino should have that answer, they would probably have surveillance of Lorraine coming and going out the front doors. Once or twice is the question.
Could someone have followed her out of the casino? Especially if she won the second time she went. If her car was pointing south....did she make it back to the casino the second time? I am sure Kawartha Downs has that surveillance info, and the Police must have it too.
I have been to the casinos late at night, on the off hours and I find that people do seem to know one another.
There is also horse racing at that location.

The area is heavily treed in spots....and has hills....and is rural.

Was Lorraine's cell phone picked up by any towers?

Sorry, my thoughts/questions are all over the place but I am concerned, I live in a city close by, and have also gone to that casino, it is out in the boonies....so, Lorraine's disappearance is on my mind every time I go near Peterborough...where is she?

Taking part were the missing woman's daughter, Charlotte Roach, sister, Ann Walton, son, Andrew *advertiser censored*, daughter, Jennifer Debernardi, and husband, George Roach.

Did family members ever get in touch with Lorraine while she was at the casino, via her cell phone? By that I mean, did they ever call her there, in the past?

Is there any chance that this recent murder has a connection to Lorraine's disappearance?

http://www.mykawartha.com/news-story/4135966-investigation-continues-into-murder-of-emily-township-woman/

Wendy Taylor was found murdered in her home. She lives not too far from where Lorraine lived and from where LR's van was found abandoned. The two women are of similar age and both had a connection with Kawartha Downs. Wendy was an employee of OLG at the KW Slots and LR was a regular there and was last seen heading there.

Somehow I think they will get to the bottom of this one, from the link...

That's the other thing that caught my eye dotr. Smyth is a pretty senior guy and to mention that he's involved at this early stage in the investigation makes me wonder if they think there is a connection between Wendy's murder and other killings or crimes.
