[O'Mara says it's apparent the state has no physical evidence and needs these calls for their case of circumstantial evidence. And they are prior bad acts and should not be used.]

Next witness is Wendy Dorival. A volunteer coordinator with the Sanford Police that helped coordinate programs include neighborhood watch

LE called who worked with neighborhood watch programs. How they are trained, what are instructions, are they written, yes....what do you tell them about following or confronting someone? not to do it.

Asking her if all material was provided to GZ, yes. Did she ever tell him it was OK to follow or confront someone, no.
 
Oh I'm glad to find this thread! I like to transcribe what I'm watching and I'm watching HLN so I'll go ahead and try to update this thread periodically too.

Apologies in advance if I repeat anything that's already been said - sometimes I get so caught up in typing and submitting that I don't get time to read everything that has been posted in the meantime during each commercial break.

She gave GZ flyers to get people to come to meeting. about 25 came out of over 100 residents. They were concerned about burglaries and she verified this. was a real concern. They had concerns about no fence and people coming through gate and inadequate lighting and patio doors. She made recommendations to HOA.

on the stand - Ramona Rumph - records custodian, seminole c. sheriff's office -

discussing connection time, duration, etc of GZ's call (s) - (earlier they met and argued over whether his numerous previous 911 calls about suspicious people in the neighborhood should be allowed in, not sure if they decided to allow all of them but they did play them all outside of the jury's hearing so defense could hear them, and there were several) - giving the records number, and other technical records-related details.

state's exhibit 170 - sorry, 162? Yes, 162 - (more 911 records) ... (commercial)

(note - HLN pauses the live coverage for commercials then restarts it - rather than breaking away and rejoining - so each commercial pushes the "live" coverage back by several minutes. at this point I may already be transcribing "live" events several minutes behind others who have other sources, but I can't help it, it's how HLN is doing it.)
 
next witness - Wendy Dorival - been employed with sanford pd a bit over 5 years, current position - accreditation manager - job is to ensure they meet the standard for accreditation every 3 years. Prior to this she was a volunteer program coordinator, job was to recruit and train officers on patrol, also worked with the neighborhood watch program volunteers, coordinating, giving info, etc.

Talking about what Neighborhood watch programs are, and the positions within the program, and so on.

Tells them to call non-emergency #, if see somebody if don't recognize. Encourages residents to get to know community and who people are.

No red flags raised about GZ's attitude. She is not LE, a civilian representative of LE. Doesn't discuss law with NW. Only statute they go over is about burglary.
Tell not to engage suspect but don't tell them not to follow or not to defend yourself if attacked. She does not discuss guns or whether they are allowed to carry guns.

Judge sustains prosecution hearsay objection of question related to what Dorvial heard from neighbors re: past burglaries.

NW coordinator is contact with LE, will call about problems and concerns. Residents were directed to call him first, not her.
