"A teenager from Columbia, Ill., was killed on the same day she was to appear in court for a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend."

"Erin Schneider, 17, obtained a temporary order of protection earlier this month against a former boyfriend, Jordan Kuykendall. On Thursday, she was to appear in court for a hearing, according to Monroe County court records. Instead, her parents put out a missing person report and her body was found fatally stabbed in a home in the 200 block of Riebeling Street."

"The Major Case Squad is investigating the case. No one has been charged, although police said they had narrowed the case to one unnamed suspect."

"Kuykendall was involved in a car crash ... just hours before police found Schneider’s body."

Apparently the major case squad worked hard and fast.

from link below:
"Jordan Kuykendall, 20, is being held at an undisclosed St. Louis-area hospital in lieu of $1 million bail..."
"...another Metro East police department had previously investigated an allegation of domestic violence involving the couple..."

I hope ppl reading the story follow advice from the dep. commander of the m-c squad, who said:
“If you’re in an abusive relationship, you need to stay away.”

The victim would have started her senior yr. in high school this fall.
Unbelievably tragic. :banghead:

Anyone else think that head on collision was a suicide attempt?

So sad, RIP girl. :(

From November 2014:

The Columbia man accused in the June 27, 2013 stabbing death of 17-year-old Erin Schneider was sentenced Wednesday in Monroe County Circuit Court to 40 years in prison...

A conviction on the charge of “guilty but mentally ill” ensures that Kuykendall receives mental care while he is incarcerated.
