Sadly, I suspect she's in the water somewhere WITH her vehicle.
Six-year-old Shannon Sherrill disappeared from her front yard in Thorntown, Indiana in October, 1986. Someone knows where she is......

That's a long drive and she is a diabetic without her medication. I wonder if she left for work early in the morning, before she had a chance to eat?

There is a possibility she got drowsy and confused and is in a coma somewhere but time is really running out if that's the case. I hope there are lots of searches and publicity efforts going on. Any locals, do you have any knowledge about where the floods were worst along Krista's route from Norwich to Clinton? Likely spots where a car could go off the road and out of sight? Is this one of the routes where cell phone reception is patchy?

Did she have a cell phone with her? If she was in trouble from the weather or flooding wouldn't she call someone on the cell phone and let them know or to ask for help?

She got gas in Norwich at 1:30. Route 12B (her likely route into Clinton) was closed on Friday. She would have had to detour at some point.

Rte 12B would be the long way, and more direct.

Seems like most locals would take the short cuts.

Rte 12N through Sherburne and into Sangerfield and then Waterville.
Take a left onto Rte 315 in Waterville, and a quick right onto Berell to Hanover, to Grant Hill Rd., to Austin Rd. (Berell, Hanover, Grant Hill and Austin are really one road, just different names that connect Waterville directly to Clinton). Right on Lombard, right on Dugway (where she would have come to her first flooded bridge) if she went this way, then right onto Rte 12 on into Franklin Springs and Clinton (both hit hard by flooding).

Looks like a straight shot up rt 12 to Waterville to 315 to 12a from Notwich to Clinton. If she stayed on-route the search area should be small. There is a river parallel to the road only for the first couple of miles out of Norwich. The rest of the route does not appear to be extremely vulnerable to flash flooding. Google Earth shows pretty level. No lakes along the route. Something seems fishy here.

The Oriskany Creek wreaked havoc on much of Clinton and Franklin Springs, two villages she would have had to travel through to get to work. There's at least one bridge she would have needed to pass, and many bridges were either partially or completely destroyed.

Actually, there was quite a bit of flooding at different points on her route (and we're still not sure exactly which way she went. Downtown Sherburne was pretty much under water on Friday, and up closer to where she works there were several bridges out.

Here's photos of the flooding in the area -- some of the towns are to the east, but some are right between Norwich and Utica (Clinton). You can see from the photos that bridges and roads were washed out. Plus, she could have simply slid off the road in the rain, and down an incline -- maybe not visible from road.

    Evening Sun article

"The area through which Kosowsky is believed to have been traveling was experiencing a severe storm Friday afternoon and many of the roads in the area were barricaded due to flooding. It is likely that Kosowsky initially attempted to reach Clinton via state Route 12, traveling along Route 12B into Waterville before picking up Route 315 to Clinton. Many sections of that route, however, were underwater and barricades had already been erected directing drivers to detour. There are any number of other routes which she could have subsequently taken and authorities believe that due to the number of road closures it is possible that she lost her way."

"As part of a multi-agency search, authorities have been scouring the routes Kosowsky may have been traveling. Using patrol cars and a helicopter, authorities searched roads in Chenango, Madison, and Oneida Counties for any sign of the missing women or her vehicle. No signs of either Kosowsky or her car have yet been found."

"Police are currently reviewing video tape footage from gas stations along Route 12 for any sign of the missing woman. "
