Please continue here and remember the rules. You can find them right here: The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

AND don't overlook these!!!!

Victim Friendly

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civl and constructive way and ONLY IF IT IS RELEVANT TO THE CASE. Additionally, sleuthing family members that are not suspect is not allowed. Don't make random accusations or post personal information (even if it is public) like parking tickets, address, or first and last names of all their relatives and their neighbors. Also, never "bash" or attack them, or accuse them of involvement. However that does not mean that family members cannot come into discussion as the facts and issues of the case are discussed.

Social Networks

Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)

Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

MINORS: Websleuths.com™ does not allow the naming of, or photographs of, minors (children under the age of 18) on the Site unless the child is a missing or deceased person or where law enforcement has identified the minor as a perpetrator of a crime and the minor will be tried as an adult. If a missing child is found and it is learned that such minor was the victim of child exploitation, references to the child’s name and likeness will be removed, and further posting of such information will not be allowed.

Thanks,

Salem

TX - Alanna Gallagher, 6, Saginaw Timeline and Media Links *NO DISCUSSION*

Just chiming in on the supervision thing. I am in no way suggesting anything about the parents or other adults being involved-I just don't know enough yet. Jmo, but I don't get any hinky vibe from the dad during his brief appearance on camera.

That said, if the timeline is as wide open as it seems to be, that concerns me. Everybody parents differently, but six is pretty small to have run of the neighborhood. My kids are eight and a half and almost seven. We live in a very safe neighborhood, know most of our neighbors in a two block radius, and live across the street from the park. My six year old is allowed to play "on the block", but I am checking every ten or fifteen minutes to ensure she is still in site. Neither one of them are allowed to knock on a friends door or go into anyone's house without telling me their plan first--no matter how well we know that person.

As a single mom, I struggle with supervision vs freedom. I have things to do-they want to play. If I want to get groceries put away or start dinner or stare at the wall for ten minutes, yes they can play. They have both learned the hard way that they absolutely need to be where we agreed. I don't let them go to the park across the street unsupervised-unless I'm working in the front yard where I can see them-I feel there's just too much going on there for them to be unsupervised at this age.

My eight and a half year old was allowed to walk to the library four blocks away for the first time yesterday. He has to cross one busy street with the light. First run, I let him walk, stay for half and hour, then I picked him up. We're all still alive :). Next run, he will get his books and walk home by himself. I allowed him this freedom because he has a good head on his shoulders and I feel I have taught him what he needs to know.

Imo, kids have to have a certain amount of measured freedom--it's how their brain grows. But, if its true that this girl at five or six years old is allowed to be unsupervised for that many hours, that greatly concerns me.

It's easy to think sometimes, after spending so much time on this site, that there is horror around every corner, but it's just not true. At the same time, an adequate amount of supervision for a child-measured in terms of their developmental capacity-is absolutely necessary.

This poor child was dumped on the side of the road like a piece of garbage. It makes me want to scream. I hope they catch the monster who did this straight away.

Bringing this over from the other thread. Thank you, Wondergirl!

A: (no comment)

Q: Is there any correlation to any other missing person cases?

A: No correlation, isolated incident, we believe

Q: Can we assume she was abducted?

A: We don't know. We are trying to determine:

1. COD

2. Who seen Alanna last

3. What happened

We still have alot to do

Supervision comes with heartfelt concern and common sense. :twocents:

I don't think there has been any information released to ascertain how long she had been missing or exactly how long the parents had been looking for her, for me to make any assumptions.

Where and who is the perp?

I was thinking about the red tape and if the parents used red tape for any specific purpose in their activities. Could someone else associated with those activities be responsible?

Rest in Peace, pretty girl.

Tarp
Tape
Mention of a belt by 911 caller
Trash bag
Walmart bag
Bindings on hands and feet

Let's hope there is enough forensic material on these items to catch a monster

My heart goes out to this baby girl's family, her community, and to the children who will not be able to unsee what they saw when they found her.

Would LE bring in tracking dogs to track her movements that day?

Also, is it common for LE to leave a search warrant receipt so visible in the car where anyone could read it like that? Seems like either a rookie mistake or a purposeful move on the part of LE.

Saginaw PD believe girl's murder is "isolated case"
Wednesday afternoon, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the girl as Alanna Gallagher, who was reported missing Monday evening. She turned six last month. Her cause of death has still not been made public.

On Wednesday, an FBI receipt viewed by WFAA revealed investigators confiscated plastic bags, various colored tapes and tarp to help the probe into Gallagher's death.
A partial list of items taken included:
  • Walmart plastic bags
  • Charmin Ultra Soft pack
  • Blue/Gray tarp
  • Red, White, Camouflage tape
  • Electrical tape
  • Citizens Academy card
  • Copy of Social Security card

Body of murdered Saginaw girl identified as 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher
by Arezow Doost

Alanna’s body was found bound with red tape more than a mile from her home. FBI agents left the list of items taken from the family car clearly visible through the window.

The girl was often seen playing unsupervised outside, according to neighbors. The superintendent of the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD released a statement describing Alanna as bubbly and always happy. She was a kindergarten student at Willow Creek Elementary.
Much more at the link with video of Karl Gallagher's statement.

I'm wondering why the FBI focused on just that car. (Or was it the only one the media happened to see the warrant for?)

I'm wondering, in any case, if it was perhaps the one parked on the street, and if it was left unlocked. Could the perp have gotten items from the car? Doesn't seem likely in broad daylight. Maybe the night before? Maybe the perp had been watching her since she was known to play alone outside?

OT AE I love the quote in your signature. Very important words, plainly stated. :)

Who lets their child play outside alone anymore?

Thank you. I think it's important to approach these cases as dispassionately as possible if you really want to understand them--emotion clouds judgement, and these crimes push everyone's buttons in all kinds of ways. I myself am definitely over-involved in this one. :/

Who lets their child play outside alone anymore?

I'm not a parent, so I won't get involved in the referendum on good vs. bad parenting. I assume no one is suggesting the family deserved this to happen. I recall similar criticism about Jessica Ridgeway's mom letting her daughter walk alone to school.

I just hate that LE stated that "everyone is a suspect" yet this is an isolated incident. The body of a child was dropped onto a residential road. That is so messed up.

By the way the "everyone is considered a suspect" quote is GONE from CBSlocal news. It was here and now it is not: http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2013/07/03/...rl-identified-as-6-year-old-alanna-gallagher/

I wonder what's up with that? Too terrifying for the community to make a statement like that? Does LE KNOW who the perp is? JMO

Someone definitely transcribed the "everyone is a suspect" during the live event, I'm sure it's still in thread 1. And then they go on to say the family is not suspected. No idea.

Mlive is Michigan. This is Saginaw, Michigan. Not Texas.

This has prob already been posted but jic channel 5 news just threw out a short timeline:

5:00 last seen
7:30 body found (wow that's fast)
9:00 parents "call" police (per newscast)

Sorry no link but wanted to emphasize the very tight timeline

Earlier, I remember seeing a link that mentioned the size of the investigation, or how many investigators were assigned to this case. I don't remember how many LE but it seemed to be unusually large. I think that suggests LE is not sure of what they have here, or are not at all zeroed in on a theory, or a suspect. IMHO...
