VA - Ayrton Wright for domestic violence, child neglect, Portsmouth, 2013

My blood boils about idiots like this!

On June 17 at about 1:15 am Portsmouth VA police responded to a domestic violence call on Corprew Drive. When they arrived they found a female victim suffering abrasions and contusions to her face and head. She told the police the father of her 2 month old child had assaulted her.

Witness told police the suspect, Ayrton Trannie Wright, 22, ran into a wooded area near Turnpike Rd after the altercation. Officers saw him and took him into custody. The victim then told police her 2 month old baby was missing.

Officers went back to the wooded area to search and found the baby lying on the ground by a tree. He was unharmed and returned to the mother.

Wright was charged with assault and battery as well as abuse and neglect.

Wednesday, at a preliminary hearing, Wright's case was certified over to a grand jury for the felony child neglect charge. He was also found guilty of a previous misdemeanor assault charge that was separate from the incident on June 17. He was fined $250 and sentenced to 10 days in prison for that misdemeanor.

So first he assaults the mother and takes the baby. Then, as if that isn't enough, when he realizes he is going to get caught he lays the baby down on the ground and doesn't tell the police the baby is there!! Was he just going to leave the baby there to suffer while he sat his butt in jail! GRRRRRRRRRR!

Possibly the most ridiculous question ever asked by an attorney in court: "So if somebody's not alive you can't get any information from them?" JW
