Police searching for parents of lost toddler. (Tulsa World)
Police are searching for the parents of a toddler who was found wandering in a north Tulsa neighborhood.

Latoria Simmons said she had found a girl walking alone outside of her home in the 600 block of East 55th Place North about 10:30 p.m. Monday.

"She was right in front of the house," Simmons said. "She was not crying, but you could tell she had been walking a while looking at the bottom of her feet."
---
Neighbor Angela Brown said the girl was playful and talkative throughout the night.

"We found out she knows the words "puppy", "mommy", "daddy" and "later," she said.

However, the child did not tell either woman her name, Brown said.

"We named her Angel instead," Simmons said." We just pray her parents are found."
---
The toddler, believed to be between 18 months and 2 years old, did not show signs of neglect or abuse, police said.

The girl is now in protective custody, police said.

Wondering if something bad has become of the babysitter. North Tulsa has some mean streets. Would not be surprised if "body found" is a result of the search.

Investigators questioned the mother Tuesday, and concluded the girl was at the home of her babysitter's brother Monday night, about six houses away from where she was found.

That determination led authorities to the home in which the 19-month-old managed to wander away from. Shortly before 5 p.m., DHS workers and Tulsa police officers pulled another child from the home after discovering poor conditions inside the residence.
