How devastating. My thoughts are with the family as they search for some peace.

RIP Lisa, Anna and Nicholas. I hope you are resting together. x

On Tuesday, Manitoba’s health minister Theresa Oswald said all of Gibson’s previous contact with the province’s medical system has been passed on to Thambirajah Balachandra, the province’s medical examiner.

Balachandra is now tasked with doing a full review, which is expected to be completed in the late fall.

Oswald said it is too early to come to any conclusions about Gibson’s contact with health professionals, but Oswald believes the usual protocols were followed.

She said if Balanchandra finds that they were not, things will change. Oswald also said she had a message for all Manitoba women. “If you are a mom or a grandparent and you are feeling worried today, there is help. And all we want you to do is reach out for that help,” she said.

Winnipeg police announced Tuesday they would be holding a community event to help people deal with the tragedy. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kirkfield Westwood Community Centre, not far from where the children were found.

The evening of August 1, a public memorial is being held for Lisa Gibson and her children at The Forks. Organizers have asked people to bring a candle and a white flower to place in the Red River where Gibson's body was found

Yesterday morning I dropped a bouquet of flowers off at the Gibson’s house. There was a mound of stuffed animals, balloons, etc in a pile around a pole which is situated on the edge of their property. I saw a bus stop so the city bus travels down their street. There is a high white fence around a small backyard. When I arrived, a news reporter was taking pictures of the gifts and there was no activity at the house. Some of the people I saw walking, running, and riding their bikes said hello.

If you copy and paste “ Portage Avenue at Westwood Drive to Coleridge Park Drive ” on Google maps you’ll see how far the Gibson’s House is from the Tim Horton’s Restaurant on Portage Avenue. One way is approximately 3 kms. The Assiniboine River is light blue in color. Lisa was reportedly seen near the Tim Horton’s Restaurant (A) early Wednesday morning. Police haven’t confirmed where Lisa entered the river but walking from the house to Tim Horton’s and back would take awhile.

The Gibson’s home is located on the corner of the street and the front of their house faces south towards the Assiniboine River. Directly across from the Gibson’s house is a tiny park which was named after a founding community member. A narrow path leads to the river which was flowing rapidly to the east. Lisa’s body was found at the Forks where the Assiniboine and Red Rivers meet. Copy and paste “ Coleridge Park Drive to the Forks by water “ to see the route and the distance from the Forks to Coleridge Park Drive.

The funeral for Lisa and her children is this afternoon in Stonewall and a vigil will be held this evening at The Forks.
