Dozens die as Spanish train derails in Galicia

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-23442018

A train has derailed in north-western Spain, killing at least 60 people and injuring many more, officials in the Galicia region have said.

All 13 carriages of the train, which was travelling from Madrid to Ferrol, came off the tracks near the city of Santiago de Compostela........

Analysts say it is the worst rail accident in Spain in four decades. ........

Death toll is up to 80. It could easily pass up the most deadly train crash in Spain from 1972 that killed 86 people considering there are about 36 people in critical condition.

"Francisco Jose Garzon, 52, who is under armed guard in hospital, is to be questioned over suspected reckless driving following the devastating crash which left almost 170 passengers injured."

"Investigators are looking into possible failings by the driver after the Madrid to Ferrol service derailed on Wednesday night as it approached the city of Santiago de Compostela.
Authorities have located the train's so-called 'black box' which is expected to shed further light on the disaster's cause."

"A Spanish police spokesman confirmed the driver had refused to answer questions and he is now expected to questioned by a judge."

This was such a preventable tragedy.
Surely the driver knew going 3 -4 times faster was a huge error.
    Prayers for all.
