Family of missing girl ‘heartbroken’ as search nears one month

Arteaga said he suggested the two leave the party so they could go back to his apartment to discuss their argument.
“The argument kept on going, and she told me she didn’t want to sleep at my apartment,” he said. “So I ended up taking her back to her place, and that is the last time I ever saw her.”
Rick Salinas, Adrienne’s father, said Adrienne is an intelligent, responsible and motivated young woman who loves watching movies and reading.
Before her disappearance, Adrienne had been recovering from two major surgeries after having valley fever.
“She is like a little flower, very feminine and frail,” Rick said. “She is my baby, and she doesn’t deserve this. She is a good, good girl.”

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - It has been three weeks since Adrienne Salinas went missing
Salinas' boyfriend, Francisco Arteaga, was one of the last people to see her before she disappeared in the early morning hours of June 15.
Tempe police told CBS5 News he is not a suspect or a person of interest and has been very cooperative with them.
Arteaga said the last he heard from Salinas was around 4:40 a.m. on June 15 - a half hour before her cell phone went dead.

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - It has been more than a week since a 19-year-old Tempe woman went missing the day before Father's Day.
As each moment passes, Adrienne Salinas' family is growing more concerned.
"I want to tell her if she's watching, mijita, sweetie pie, hang on please," said her mother, Suzanne Coss, through her tears. "Hang on, we're coming to get you. Mama is – we're going to find you."AZ Central July 1, 2013
Later the morning of June 15, Adrienne Salinas repeatedly called the boyfriend, but was unable to reach him, shortly after 4 a.m. She eventually sent him a text message at 4:43 a.m., saying “I’m coming over.’’
The boyfriend told police that she never arrived. Police say said there has been no trace of her since 5:05 a.m. that morning, when she called a cab, but a cabdriver was unable to find her. Her cell phone turned off at 5:07 a.m.

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - A group created by a former DEA agent ten years ago called 'Find Me' is now on the case in finding 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas.
She's been missing from Tempe for 10 days now, ever since she and her roommates had a party at their apartment. We're told she had a fight with her boyfriend, and on her way to his house, had a tire blowout. Police said she called a cab to pick her up at a nearby gas station, but never made it.Posted: 06/20/2013 11:26 am EDT | Updated: 06/21/2013 10:43 am EDT
Police say that Salinas "was involved in a single vehicle accident at about 3:44 AM." Both of her vehicle's front tires were flattened.
“She was upset and wanted to go talk to her boyfriend about it," her roommate, Shaney Duggan, told MyFoxPhoenix. "Along the way there she hit a curb, her tires popped."Posted: Jun 18, 2013 7:19 PM CST Updated: Jul 02, 2013 7:35 PM CST By Allyson Blair

Tonight Arizona police are considering conducting a sonar search of the bottom of a community lake for the body of a Tempe college student whose car was found with two punctured tires, according to police.
"Unfortunately, we have been down this road too many times before, where we have found bodies of young people in the lake. Nothing indicates that she is down there, but we are trying to eliminate everything we can," Sgt. Mike Pooley of the Tempe Police Department told ABCNews.com.

On Wednesday, authorities released surveillance video they hope will help find her.
The video shows the gas station where a cab came to pick Salinas up after the party. You never see her at the gas station, and you never see her get in the cab.
Police say the cab driver and Salinas' boyfriend have been cleared at this point and they don't suspect any foul play on their parts.
The reward being offered is $10,000.
If you have any information on Salinas' whereabouts, you are asked to call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.

The video is from the AMPM near Hardy Drive and University in Tempe. It shows the moments from when Salinas called a cab to meet her at the store and when her cell phone went off. The 19-year-old vanished without a trace before making it to the AMPM.
Police believe the people here coming in and out may have seen her or something suspicious that night.
"If you look at that entire video and you see somebody you may know... we just want to know if you saw anything that night," says Tempe Police Sgt. Mike Pooley.

Police: Body found in Apache Junction is that of missing Tempe woman
The father of a missing 19-year-old college student said Thursday that police have identified badly decomposed remains found a week ago in an Apache Junction desert wash as that of his daughter.
“I know she is in heaven and she is at peace,’’ Rick Salinas said. “Right now we are in deep grief and mourning. It is indescribable pain.’’
Rick Salinas said he received a telephone call from police Thursday afternoon notifying him that the remains found in the wash by a property owner on Aug. 6 are that of his beloved daughter, Adrienne Salinas, a Gateway Community College student.
Remains found in desert may be 19-year-girl who went missing two months ago after arguing with boyfriend at house party
Skeletal remains found in the Arizona desert could be those of a 19-year-old student who went missing in June, police said.
More than 100 officers combed the sparse desert in Apache Junction, near Tempe, where the body was discovered by a property owner on August 6.
Because the remains were so decomposed, authorities have only confirmed they believe it could be college student Adrienne Salinas today.
Tempe PD: Remains found in wash are Adrienne Salinas'
Tempe police have confirmed the skeletal remains found in Apache Junction are those of missing 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas.
Tempe police Sgt. Mike Pooley said confirmation was made by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
"We are treating this as a homicide investigation," Pooley said at an evening news briefing. "Our detectives are focused on finding answers. There are a lot of holes in this mystery."

Body found ID'd as missing Arizona woman Adrienne Salinas
Remains found in a dry wash in Apache Junction, Ariz. were confirmed Thursday to be those of missing Arizona woman Adrienne Salinas.
The human remains were found Aug. 6 in a sparsely populated part of Apache Junction on the eastern outskirts of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Police said they identified Salinas using DNA evidence.
"We did receive information from the Department of Public Safety crime lab that the remains that were found last week are that of Adrienne Salinas," Tempe Police Sgt. Mike Pooley said.
Remains found in wash identified as Adrienne Salinas
Tempe police Sgt. Mike Pooley said confirmation was made, through DNA testing, by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
"At this point in the investigation, we do not conclusively know Adrienne's cause or manner of death. We will continue to work with the Medical Examiner's office and other law enforcement partners, but we cannot rule anything out and we have not as of yet classified this case as a homicide," Pooley said in a statement Friday afternoon.

Adrienne Salinas case: Police continue evidence search in Apache Junction after body found
Tempe police continue to brave sweltering heat Monday morning as they search a four-mile stretch of wash in Apache Junction for evidence related to the disappearance and death of 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas.
Sgt. Mike Pooley, a police spokesman, said that the search will continue Monday, with a smaller group.
Monday’s operation is part of a planned strategy by detectives to do smaller, more targeted searches utilizing GPS coordinates, Pooley said.
Human remains found in Ariz. wash mark most promising lead in disappearance of college student
Investigators who have had little luck in unraveling the mystery of an Arizona college student’s disappearance two months ago came across their most promising lead when badly decomposed human remains with similarities to the missing student were found in a dry wash.
Police are still looking for clues as to how 19-year-old college student, Adrienne Salinas, died after her body was found in Apache Junction and identified last week.
However, Salinas' family searched the same area weeks before her body was found.
Salinas was last seen in Tempe, but her body was found in Apache Junction, some 30 miles away. No one knows how she got there.

Adrienne Salinas case: Tempe police hope public can help solve mystery
By Jim Walsh The Republic | azcentral.com

“This case will be solved because someone comes forward to give us information,” said Sgt. Mike Pooley, a Tempe police spokesman. “If the forensics come back with nothing, we will need someone to come forward.
“I strongly believe it was foul play, that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Salinas said, adding that it is vitally important to himself and his family that justice is eventually served. “We don’t want this to happen to another innocent child,” he added.
Police ask that anyone with information call 480-350-8311, or contact the Silent Witness Program.
