GUILTY Ireland - Eoghan, 10, & Ruairi Chada, 5, murdered, County Mayo, 29 July 2013

The remains of Eoghan Chada, 10, and his brother Ruairi, 5, were discovered in a car that crashed in Westport, Co Mayo, at 4pm this evening.

The youngsters hadn't been seen since going bowling with their dad, Sanjeev, 43, yesterday evening.

The area where the bodies were found has been sealed off for a technical examination and the State Pathologist has been called as a full Garda investigation gets underway.

Gardai said the children had been found dead in the car crash outside Westport and the father had been injured but was alive.

Gardai said that the car the Mr Chada had been driving was involved in a single vehicle accident.

The children were found in the boot of the car shortly after the vehicle crashed, it is believed they were dead before the collision.

Garda sources said Mr Chada was not estranged from the mother of their children and that they are not aware of any difficulties in the couple's relationship.

However, it's understood they did not die as a result of the car accident.

The father and his two sons were last seen at around 6.30pm when he told wife Kathleen he was taking the children out and they left home to go to the Dome Bowling Centre in Carlow town centre.
But Mr Chada failed to return home with the children.
At the time the alert was issued, gardai said they had no knowledge of any breakdown in relations in the family and insisted that the couple were not estranged.

He had set off with the boys from the family home at Ballinkillen, near Bagenalstown on Sunday evening, supposedly to bring them bowling in the Dome Bowling Centre in Carlow. But they never arrived, and concerns reached a serious level when Mr Chada contacted a family member by phone and left a very distressed message. Gardaí said the message “greatly concerned the family and put their concerns on a new level”.
Amid growing concerns for their safety, gardaí issued a Child Rescue Ireland Alert, used in cases of child abduction where there is serious concern for a child’s safety.

This is the car that crashed into the wall in Rosbeg, yesterday afternoon.
The driver, named as the father of the two boys, was taken to Mayo General Hospital with injures described as ‘not serious’. Those who were first on the scene described his behaviour as ‘very peculiar’ and said he refused to accept their attempts to help. They struggled to open his door, and he remained in the car when they did and was mumbling “It’s too late.” He asked for a phone, was given one, and was making a call when the local man and a British national, who was also on the scene, made the discovery in the boot.
Gardaí from Westport arrived almost immediately thereafter and took over the crash site. A doctor, also a British national, and his wife, a nurse, had arrived on the scene also, and were asked by Gardaí to tend to the children. They did whatever they could but confirmed both were dead.

Seems clear that the father killed the boys, but according to this article, the parents are not estranged... so it does not seem to be a custody issue... unless parents were just in the discussion stages of separating & could not agree on future custody of the boys, perhaps.

Two brothers were strangled and their bodies stuffed into a car boot, gardai have said

Irishmirror.ie learned last night the dad of two, who survived with minor injuries, was spoken to by gardai recently probing allegations that money went missing from a community centre.

Chada, 43, met with fraud cops over the alleged disappearance of a “significant five-figure sum” claimed to be more than €40,000 from the local facility in Carlow.

It is believed that a gambling debt may have caused a despairing Sanjeev to kill his two sons.

"Mr Chada was on a committee which had raised significant funds in relation to the building of an extension at the community centre in Ballinkillen, but enquiries at a local bank branch showed the cash had gone missing.

"The tragic thing about this is that everyone thought he was a gentleman – he was even training the primary school youngsters in the local GAA club many nights of the week."

In the Central Criminal Court today, Sanjeev Chada of Ballinkillen, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow pleaded guilty to killing Eoghan (10) and Ruairi Chada (5) at Skehanagh Lower, Ballintubber, Co Mayo on July 29th, 2013...

Mr Justice Paul Carney imposed two life sentences to run concurrently.

In an hour-long hearing, the court heard Chada had decided to kill his children to spare them the shame of his fraudulent behaviour - he had embezzled €56,000 from a community centre to pay debts from online trading.
