Chief James Kolar will be my guest on Tricia's True Crime Radio Sunday Aug 4th 8 PM Eastern. Chief Kolar wrote the great book, "A Foreign Faction: Who Really Kidnapped JonBenet Ramsey"

Feel free to post questions here :)

CLICK HERE AND LISTEN LIVE THIS SUNDAY 8 PM EASTERN

Excellent. I look forward to the show, the last one was very intersting.

Question to James Kolar: What grounds do you have for thinking JonBenet moved from the breakfast bar to the basement, does this exclude any of the bedrooms as a primary crime-scene?

.

Question for Chief Kolar:
What about the red sweater PR claims she put JB to bed in? JB was found dead in the white GAP shirt she wore to the White's party. The red sweater was found balled up in JB's bathroom and there was a jumpsuit belonging to JB soaking in the sink. What is significance of all that apparel?

Tricia: I am jumping with joy that Chief Kolar will appear on your radio show.

THANKS!!
C.

Very excited for this!!!!!! I just finished his book, what an eye opener. I have to think about questions :)

One thing that might be great for him to review is the misperceptions Re: touch DNA?

:seeya:

I'd love to know whether Dr.Beuf ever gave a DNA sample.

Good to have him on now more of us have had the opportunity to read his book :)

Tricia,

I'm guessing James Kolar knows the answer to this one, but will he give us a hint:

Question to James Kolar. Boulder Police Department stated in interview with Patsy that no size-12 underwear were present in JonBenet's underwear drawer.

Was there a size-6 pair with a Wednesday feature in that underwear drawer?

.

Great questions everyone thank you.

You all know how gracious Chief Kolar is but he is limited to what he can say about certain things and if he can't talk about something then he will flat out tell us.

One of the topics will be the pineapple/digestion issues.

Tuesday would have been JonBenet's 23rd birthday. Hard to believe isn't it?

Yes. My dd is less than a year older than her. Still hits my heart hard.

Can he talk about what mistakes he thinks were made in the early stages of the investigation?

Tricia, thanks for the opportunity to plan out a few questions. Hopefully, he can read them ahead of time so he’ll be prepared with what he can answer (I know there are things he’s still not able to answer.).

  1. [In his last appearance on Tricia’s show, Kolar was asked by Cynic about this, but he didn’t seem to completely understand what he was being asked, or he just didn’t know the answer. The answer might go a long way in answering whether the ligature was even functional as it was found on JonBenet’s body.] JonBenet’s hair was entangled both in the knot tied at her neck and in the looped knot tied around Patsy’s paintbrush. When the coroner removed the ligature, he had to cut the hair in the knot at her neck. Did he also have to cut her hair in the knot at the paintbrush, or was it no longer entangled in her hair? And if it was already free from her hair, had the hair been pulled out from the roots, or was it cut by someone else? (In one of the photos that were leaked taken before her body was removed from the house, it appears to be still attached to the hair.)
  2. The two versions of the 911 call that were released publicly have obviously been edited at the end from their original form. Would it be possible to get a complete recording released to the public?
  3. Also, the phone in the kitchen from which the 911 call was supposedly made hung on the wall. If the receiver wasn’t correctly hung up, it should have fallen to the counter. Have the police considered that the 911 call might have been made from the basement where the phone sat flat on a table?
  4. Have the police consulted with a forensic specialist who could have determined the shape of the object that caused the depressed fracture in her skull? Several medical pathologists have made public their opinions, but they are only speculating the same as forum posters without seeing the actual evidence. There are forensic pathologists who specialize in this type of analysis. Even if they haven’t told the public, do the police know what actually caused the skull fractures?

Just heard about Wendy Murphy's comments she made on your show last week regarding the Ramsey case, and I'm certainly interested to hear your discussion with Kolar on this matter :)

Great to have Chief Kolar appear on the show, now that a lot of us have had time to digest his book. Two questions:

1) Did anyone else besides Melody Stanton hear a scream?
2) From the book it sounds like FW began receiving phone calls from the law firm of Haddon, on the afternoon of the discovery of JB's body. For that to have happened, one can deduce that JR spoke to his friend Bynum who contacted the Haddon attorneys. They, the Haddon lawyers, seemed to respond with the alacrity of a 5-alarm firefighting unit. It would seem to me that the timing for this would have been either in the morning of the 26th when JR was in the basement, utilizing a phone down there to contact his lawyer friend, or at his friends - the F's home - right after he left his Boulder home. Am I reading this timing correctly?

questfortrue,
Interesting since Perfect Murder/Perfect Town relates:

Shortly after noon that Saturday, without consulting John or Patsy, Bynum told Detective Arndt that the Ramseys would not give any more testimonial evidence without a criminal attorney present, and they would no longer share privileged information with the police. Since he was no longer a criminal attorney, Bynum called Bryan Morgan of Haddon, Morgan and Foreman in Denver, one of Colorado’s top firms. By Saturday evening, the Ramseys had retained Morgan.

Tricia,

Given that John and Patsy did not include the pineapple snack into their version of events, and that according to all accounts they had the best part of 5-hours to come up with some plan of action.

Question to James Kolar: Does he think that the parents were ignorant about the pineapple snack?

.

I thought there would be a lot more discussion about Wendy's comments. It is either major new evidence - drugs in the pineapple, searches for child *advertiser censored* - or she just shot her credibility to bits talking off the cuff like that!

I can understand that initial autopsy results wouldn't necessarily show if JonBenet was drugged, but surely that would be out by now? She spoke so authoritatively about evidence I have never heard about before!

ozazure,
Maybe Wendy was simply exercising her constitutional right and offering an opinion?

The toxicological results in the autopsy were negative on JonBenet being drugged.

BPD did authorise house searches for child *advertiser censored* and some of the results have been sealed.

Drugs could have played a part, *advertiser censored* could have played a part, proving it is another ballgame!

.

I enjoyed the last time Chief Kolar was on Tricia's radio show. Glad for the return visit! First, thank you Chief Kolar for writing your book, Foreign Faction. It was an interesting read.
I have to ask this question regarding the Samsonite suitcase found in the basement. Was the suitcase (corner) ever considered as the object that caused Jon Benet's skull fracture. If so, was it ever tested? Thank you

Bit confused about this constitutional rights business, what do your rights have to do with losing credibility if you misrepresent facts especially when you are talking from the position of expert?

I don't think her opinion is even that outlandish however if it is based on untrue facts, that the pineapple was spiked with drugs and JonBenet was drugged, is that not something a true crime author should be mistaken about.

Did you even listen to the show?

Ok so Wendy's theory has the old cogs spinning, I recall reading somewhere about the lack of photography that Christmas day in the Ramsey home, suggesting that something may be deliberately missing or amiss. Is this something you could raise with Kolar?

Was maybe Kolar's consideration of Burke's problems pulling short of pointing a finger, not because he feels he is guilty of a crime, but because there is some compelling evidence that Burke was also a victim? Tricia, as great as you are on your show, I know not even you will get that out of the man but can we try? :)

Another question - were the bags from the plane retrieved and searched? I always thought that might account for the sad state of affairs in jonbenet's undie drawer (the cleaner/newer things were packed to go) and it makes me wonder about what telling clues might be in that luggage that add some context to the family.

Do the police know from which side the train room window was broken?

It's understood that the window frame swings in, so it could be broken from either side while standing in the basement.

A break from the outside won't tell us much as it's still possible to have done it as staging, and could have been done standing in the basement.

A break from the inside will tell us that it couldn't have been an intruder (as if anyone thinks it was) as well as being inconsistent with JR's own "break in" story.
