If the bike indeed was sold the buyer would have to transfer the title...

It's been over ONE YEAR and there is no new information on this case! =(

Sadly police still looking for help...

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for 23-year-old Zachary Bashir Porter of McMinville. Family members reported Zachary’s disappearance on July 25th when he failed to return home after a trip to the Coos County area. Coos County police are actively assisting the McMinnville police in this investigation since the 25th.

Initially, information had placed Porter at the intersection of Highway 101 and North Bay Road, in the Hauser area on Tuesday night, July 23rd. He had been dropped off there to wait for a ride from a friend, reportedly to be taken back to McMinnville. Police have now been able place Porter’s whereabouts to somewhere between the 101 / 42 junction and the intersection with North Bank Lane on Highway 42, about 5 miles north of Coquille. Information places Porter possibly traveling in a vehicle in this area as recently as Wednesday afternoon, July 24th, Porter is described as a 25-year-old white male, black hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a dark T-shirt and blue jeans. The Coos County Sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about Zachary Bashir Porter’s whereabouts to call 541-396-2106.

Age 25 years old

Distinguishing Characteristics Native American male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Porter's nickname is Zack. He has a scar on his forehead and two quarter-inch scars on his upper lip.

Details of Disappearance
Porter left his McMinnville, Oregon home at 11:00 a.m. on July 23, 2013 and went to North Bend, Oregon to sell a motorcycle to a buyer he'd met over the internet. His family got text messages from his phone after he arrived in North Bend, but they're not sure he sent the messages himself.

Police determined he did meet with the buyer and sold the motorcycle. Porter told his parents he planned to get a ride home from the buyer, but the buyer said Porter had arranged to get a ride from a friend and was going to meet that friend at the Myrtlewood Factory. He never arrived home and has never been heard from again.

At the time of his disappearance, Porter was the single parent of a five-year-old son and the primary caregiver to his disabled mother. His family stated his disappearance is out of character; they don't believe he would have abandoned his family. The motorcycle buyer is considered a person of interest in the case, but not a suspect.

Porter's disappearance remains unsolved. His family believes he was murdered.

This is not a popular case but despite what the police say publicly, the buyer of the motorcycle is one of, or the only people who could have done this.

The motorcycle sale was completed, the bike was registered in the buyer's name. The current owner of the motorcycle (the 'POI') is the former owner of the bike who sold it to Zach. He found out it was for sale and reached out to Zach, saying he had the money to purchase it back. It was not a random buyer on Craiglist. It was a person who wanted their motorcycle back.

The text sent from Zach's phone is suspicious, as prior to leaving Zach had told his father that he had not secured a ride home, and that the buyer of the motorcycle had offered him a lift.

His father also alludes to having confidence in police, saying (I apologize I am paraphrasing) "The people who killed Zack had only a day to plan it, the police have a lifetime to pick at it." It is fairly clear that his father does not believe his son was murdered randomly, but in a premeditated plan.

I'll leave folks to connect the dots here, but the POI is only not a suspect because the police are being very careful about the investigation. Zach's father posts regularly on Facebook.
