VA - Brian Dean, 20, & Christopher Horton, 16, slain, Newport News, 10 May 2007

Rapper Charged with Murder After Bragging About Homicide in Song. (Gawker)
Police in Virginia believe they've solved a double-homicide case that went cold a few years back after a local rapper was found to have recorded a song in which he allegedly brags about committing the crime.

Antwain "Twain Gotti" Steward was arrested earlier this month and charged with killing Christopher Horton, 16, and Brian Dean, 20, in a gang-related shooting that occurred in May of 2007 on the front porch of Horton's Newport News home.

Four years after the case went cold, a Newport News Police detective followed a tip from two witnesses that led him to Steward's rap song "Ride Out," in which the 22-year-old appears to be boasting about murdering Horton.

They have to have more evidence than just the song, right?

BTW, was Bob Marley ever arrested for shooting the sheriff?

Another case of a similar nature, this one in Kansas:

Retrial to begin soon following rulings on motions.

Legal or No? This interview shows that he denied the lyrics were about "his" murder, and it doesn't even match the evidence in the case he is charged in.

    From July 2014:

A Newport News judge sentenced a local rapper to 16 years in prison Monday.

Newport News Judge Timothy S. Fisher sentenced Antwain Steward on two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Steward, 23, also had been charged with two homicides, but a jury found him not guilty in May of those offenses...

Dean, who was in the Navy, was not a target, according to police. Dean was staying temporarily at Horton's home and was caught in the crossfire. Horton and Steward were in rival gangs and that's what prompted the fatal shooting, police said.
