LA LA - Opelousas, off Hwy 182, BlkMale 60+, UP15507, Skull in Wooded Area, Aug'13

Opelousas is about a 10 minute drive from Lawtell, where Brandon Scott Lavergne (murderer of Mickey Shunick & Lisa Pate) lived in a trailer home prior to his arrest for Mickey's murder.

Some more info on Earl "Bubba" Kidder's disappearance here.
Apparently the car he was in the day he disappeared was found burned:
Kidder was on a fishing trip with his friends in the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area in Point Coupee Parish. Investigators said he left on March 28, 2010 without telling anyone, and he hopped in a car by himself and drove along a dirt path, into woods in neighboring St. Martin Parish. Later, the car was found completely burnt with no sign of Kidder
Seems to me it'd be more likely his body (if he's deceased) is out in the swamps or woods of St. Martin Parish, but I guess he or his remains could have been brought back to Opelousas (St. Landry Parish). I wonder where the friends he was camping/fishing with lived at the time.

Sandra seems like she could be a possibility, as well as Eddie (there's so little info on either of their cases, particularly Eddie's).

From the above link:

"He said detectives and cadaver dogs searched the woods near the house but could find no grave site or other remains.

As of now, he said police don’t even know whether the skull was that of a man or woman or even how long it might have been buried.

“I certainly couldn’t tell. It was pretty scarred up from animals and weathered,” Guidroz said."

Namus lists three missing people from Opelousas:

Sandra Burris, 35, missing in 2005: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/4069/153/

Earl Kidder, 39-40, missing in 2010: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6973/154/

Eddie M. Martin, 45, missing in 1991 after a traffic accident: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/19017/155/

Approximate location of the skull when found: http://goo.gl/maps/JYR5n

Wow, thanks for posting. I'm looking to see if we have threads for any of these cases...

Odd, in Kidder's case, it says his friend picked him up in a truck that was later found burned, but the friend has no idea what happened to him...:waitasec:

Another missing person from St. Landry Parish-
Dale LeFleur, white male, age 68 in 2011 when he went missing.
The article in the above post also mentions him. Dale was last seen in Port Barre, which Google says is about a 17 minute car ride & a little less than 10 miles from Daisy Lane (where the skull was found).

<Sort of O/T, but this reminds me...I wonder if they have identified the skull found in the vase on the golf course in Florida...>

No recent news or info on this skull that I can find.

Has anyone heard any info on this skull?

I am the niece of Eddie Matthew Martin. We (the family) still have no word on him. The trail ends in 1991 when he was involved in a vehicular accident in Opelousas. Do you guys know if this skull that was found in 2013 was sent to FACES Lab at LSU? We need closure so badly. Thank you for helping.

I will look when I get to the computer tomorrow. Bessie might come by sooner and be able to help. That is a long time to not have answers! I can't imagine how hard that must be.

My Uncle Eddie's case is a mystery. He served three tours in Vietnam and wasn't the same when he came home. He just disappeared in CA one day, and reappeared in Louisiana He then disappeared again and resurfaced in Alaska, then last contact was in Opelousas He might be deceased or living under an assumed identity.

There are a number of characteristics, including the shape of the eye and nasal openings, that can indicate race.

But not definitive. Race being mostly a social construct, it's hard to be precise.
