Parsons fail in attempt to talk to investigators about Erica's disappearance
    Submitted by David Whisenant
    Thursday, September 12th, 2013, 4:32pm
After leaving DSS, Casey and Sandy Parsons drove to Sherrill's office. After meeting with Sherrill briefly, all three came out of the office and walked across the street to the back entrance of the Rowan County Courthouse.
"Nothing really materialized, we hoped that we could cooperate with some folks and give them some information but nothing ever materialized," Sherrill added. The attorney said that Sandy and Casey Parsons had intended to meet with investigators from the Rowan Sheriff's Office, but that the meeting didn't take place. "That's what we thought but things just didn't work out. The timing for everybody was just off," said Sherrill.

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Missing teen Erica Parsons' adoptive parents are not worried about the forthcoming results of FBI lab tests on items seized during two search warrants, according to family attorney Carlyle Sherrill.

The FBI says there is a rush on the evidence, and a number of different types of tests are being performed, but there’s no timetable when they will be completed.

The conversations started in May 2010.
"I thank God everyday you gave us Erica," Casey Parsons told Carolyn. "I know that was very hard, but at that time you made the right choice. She is a beautiful young lady."
She then goes on to say that one day Erica will want to meet Carolyn. She also asks Carolyn not to tell "big Sandy" that she's giving her updates about Erica.
"It's just that big Sandy goes along with his daddy and you know how Steve feels," Casey Parsons wrote. "But it has always hurt me because I know how you felt about your kids and I know you have always loved your kids. I thank you so much Carolyn for giving me Erica!! We love her so much. I can't even think about life without her."
On January 5, 2011, conversations state that Casey, Erica and Carolyn met at a restaurant in Mooresville so Carolyn and Erica could meet for the first time in years.

Police: Foul play suspected in missing girl case
    AP 10:58 a.m. EDT September 14, 2013

For their part, law enforcement authorities are starting to think Erica won't be found — at least not alive.
Investigators with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office say Erica's adoptive parents have been uncooperative and that they have uncovered disturbing signs of foul play. No charges have been filed, however.

Witnesses told police that Casey Parsons, 38, and Sandy Parsons, 39, physically abused Erica, who "consistently had bruises and bumps on her arms and legs," the investigator wrote.

But during police questioning, Casey Parsons often referred to Erica in the past tense, an investigator wrote in one of the search warrant affidavits.
"I found these statements to be inconsistent," since the family claims to have left Erica "alive, well, and happy with her biological grandmother," the investigator wrote.

That attorney, Carlyle Sherrill, says Casey and Sandy Parsons asked investigators for their kid’s electronics back, but the answer was no.

Family electronics including computers were seized from the family home for further testing during the execution of search warrant August 14th, when investigators went through the house on Miller Chapel Road for 12 hours looking for any evidence they could find into Erica's disappearance.
