(CNN) — An undercover police operation stopped a plot by members of an anti-government movement to kidnap and execute police officers, Las Vegas police said Thursday.

Following a four-month investigation, police arrested roommates David Allen Brutsche, 42, and Devon Campbell Newman, 67.............

Authorities have charged the pair with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and attempted first degree kidnapping with use of a weapon.

Police say additional arrests and charges are possible in the ongoing investigation.

None of the mainstream news media has yet reported that the 67 year old woman arrested in this plot, which is being labeled a domestic terrorist plot, is a longtime Church of Scientology member.

At the time of her arrest for this, she was serving as the Public Relations Director for the Las Vegas Celebrity Center of the Church of Scientology! She is also an ordained minister, listed as "Reverend" on her Linkedin page. And she is a member of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.

Very strange tale - she was living with this felon who was also a registered sex offender due to molesting a 3 year old boy.

He was editor of The Voice until just a few months ago when he resigned in order to write a book. Many of the articles posted at his blog were originally published in the Village Voice, so I guess they would be considered mainstream press.

Cases involving sovereign citizens are surfacing increasingly here in Minnesota and in other states, posing a challenge to law enforcement officers and court officials, who often become aware of the movement — a loose network of groups and individuals who do not recognize the authority of federal, state or municipal government — only when they become targets.

Sovereign citizens believe that in the 1800s, the federal government was gradually subverted and replaced by an illegitimate government. They create their own driver’s licenses and include their thumbprints on documents to distinguish their flesh and blood person from a “straw man” persona that they say has been created by the false government. When writing their names, they often add punctuation marks like colons or hyphens.

~Respectfully snipped~

You may link a blog if it is the source of your information. The only blogs/links not allowed are those that come up with ****'s when you post them.

Case of 2 ‘sovereign citizen’ defendants in plot to kill Vegas police draws attention to cause

Washington Post
By Associated Press, Published: August 22 | Updated: Friday, August 23, 4:15 PM

"LAS VEGAS — A foiled plot by two self-proclaimed adherents of a sovereign citizen movement to kidnap and execute Las Vegas police officers shows the potential for violence from a growing group that renounces government and is considered a domestic terror group at its extremes, experts and investigators said Friday."

*

"Jones characterized Newman as an acquaintance and roommate of Brutsche who shared his ideology.

Records show Brutsche served three stints in California prisons before leaving a facility in Tracy, Calif., in Sept. 2011. Since then, in Las Vegas, he has faced more than 20 criminal cases on misdemeanor offenses including doing business without a license, obstructing a public sidewalk, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle and failing to appear in court."

*

"Federal authorities regard sovereign citizen extremists as domestic terrorists.

Beirich, at the Southern Poverty Law Center, said not all people who consider themselves sovereign citizens are violent.

But she called traffic stops involving people driving with fake license plates or without registration or driver’s licenses a “typical flash point between cops and sovereigns.”"

Much, much more...

NOW POSTED BELOW: We have the 20-page police report detailing what Brutsche and Newman told police during the undercover investigation of their plan to kidnap and kill a police officer. AND FINALLY — A STATEMENT FROM SCIENTOLOGY"

Lots of info about all things Scientology at this website. This reporter has been writing about the Church of Scientology since 1995. The Rev. Newman apparently is an ordained minister OF the Church of Scientology, performing weddings and funerals per her listings.

Interestingly, at a press conference LE said this is an on-going investigation and that other arrests are possible. Maybe this is why:

"And just a further note about the Snow White convictions in 1979, based on a 1977 FBI raid: That infiltration of the federal government was directed by the very highest levels of Scientology, including founder L. Ron Hubbard (who was an unindicted co-conspirator) and Mary Sue Hubbard, who served a year in prison."

Bail $200K for woman in Vegas police plot case

http://www.centurylink.net/news/rea...p-bail_200k_for_woman_in_vegas_police_plot-ap

Newman told the judge on Friday that she didn't hurt anyone and wanted to be freed pending a Sept. 9 preliminary hearing with co-defendant David Allen Brutsche.

The judge previously set bail at $600,000 for Brutsche , 42, an ex-felon, child sex offender from California who declared in court that he was a sovereign citizen and the judge had no authority to keep him in jail.............

Police allege Brutsche and Newman held training sessions about sovereign citizen philosophy, shopped for guns and rigged a vacant house to serve as a "jail" where captives could be bound to wooden beams during interrogation.....more at link......
