Nationwide Investigation: Model Mayhem & Explore Talent, related Missing Persons

Unfortunately there likely won't be a shortage of connections. Let's face it, depraved men intent on harming beautiful women will go to sites where they can find them. However, that doesn't mean that their deaths were related to their MM profiles/postings.

Here are a few more that I've seen where MM has been mentioned:

Kayla Croft-Payne. Missing Apr 20/10 from Napavine WA. She apparently told someone that she was 'off to a model shoot'. They found Model Mayhem on her computer. (Connection to MM may have been debunked... http://hometowndebate.com/detectives-exhaust-two-leads-in-recent-search-for-kayla-croft-payne-cms-933 )

Lisa Renee Davis - went missing in 2009 from TN. (While Lisa had MM profile, I don't think it was associated with her murder. http://www.foxnews.com/story/2009/03/13/details-emerge-about-tennessee-model-slain-in-mysterious-murder/ )

Robyn Garner, from Maryland, went missing in Aruba. She was traveling with Gary Giodano. Robyn had a profile on MM I believe.

Christiana Fesmire, from Maine. July 1/11. While Christiana has been named in the past as having a profile on MM, she was an escort and her madam's brother was convicted of her murder.

And, the notorious Luka Magnotta. Luka was a pornographic gay model who was also a sadistic killer. He had a profile on Model Mayhem. He killed and dismembered his victim, posted the video online, and mailed body parts to different recipients in Canada (May 2012). He was also known to post videos of torturing/killing kittens online. (Such a sweet guy!!)

These are the links to deadly crimes that I've come across so far.

Most of the links you've posted refer to crimes that have already been solved and/or a suspect named.

Like Facebook - a lot of murdered people will have FB profiles too, but that doesn't mean theres a FB murderer targeting them...

:dunno:

absolutely true. I agree.

Is it possible this is just a "correlation is not causation" thing, such as attractive women are more likely to aspire to be models AND more likely to draw unwanted attention from predators?

Just wondered if you happened to look at the Model Mayhem site and the requests on there. It definitely looks risky IMO.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office previously called the case suspicious and said that Miss Nichols may have been exploited by an individual or group claiming they could further her modelling career.
'These aspirations, we believe, have caused Kara to fall prey to a subculture of modeling-business fronts that many times involve illicit drugs and prostitution,' Sheriff Terry Maketa said. 'This subculture could have exploited a teenage girl who may have lacked the life experience to see the inherent risks.'

Many young girls/women would love to be models but very few get that opportunity. I just don't think that sites like this are the way to go, to get a legit job in the industry.

eta: oops! Sorry I just realized that I probably went O/T on the threads purpose.

Speaking of coincidences... 2 girls in a short list of aspiring models who were murdered are both last named "Payne"?! Any relation, even distant?

While it may not involve MM, someone convicted of one awful act could also be responsible for another- and found/ tricked victims via MM. So, I think it's worth looking.

Wasn't there a craigslist killer?

I REALLY hate to say it, but any way to know if that nasty pilot Holmes ever belonged to these sites? Or his *advertiser censored*-ociates?

I think it they are good points! I noticed that some commenters on there seem to be giving some girls a false sense of ability- to trick them? IMO
For example, there were a number of encouraging and supportive comments on a MM page of a blond "K" that said how much potential or what not that she had, when that is BS IN MY OPINION it is pretty darn obvious to me that she would never be able to make it as a model! (Not trying to be mean, I wouldn't either- it is a very competitive market and I literally laughed out loud when I read those!) :floorlaugh:

Ok, I'm getting too honest with my thoughts on here, sorry! Making myself walk away, see you all tomorrow night! THANK YOU!

Here is an interesting tidbit.... Did you know that model mayhem is owned by the same people that produce the very software used for the websleuths forum and 1000s of other sites, mine included. I will not express my true feelings about this company as they are extremely lawsuit happy.
