I felt so sorry for the grandfather and uncle?, crying in the video, first link. Both said they had tried to help the mother. Others in comments seem to blame a roommate/babysitter.

He was a beautiful little boy and seemed happy.

RIP, little one....

A 2-year-old boy who was found by neighbors in a vehicle parked at a mobile home park likely died from a heat stroke, Shelby Township police say.

The boy probably was in the Dodge Caravan for at least six hours, police said.

Woelkers said the boy’s mother left for work at a nearby telemarketing company Tuesday morning and her roommate usually watched the child when she wasn’t at the home, located south of Hamlin Road, east of Dequindre Road. The babysitter told police when she woke up the child wasn’t there.

Woelkers said his detectives are talking to the mother and babysitter to get an exact time-line.

COD - heat stroke

2 cars available, mom uses both

child care situation still investigated - trying to find out last person to see child alive, and who put him in car

nobody in custody, still trying to locate and talk to witnesses

autopsy results ruled out other possibilities

open investigation - looking into backgrounds, more witness interviews to conduct

reading off stats of children dying in locked cars

he's saying a child dies every 9 days - LE wants adults to get involved anytime you see

the roommate called it in -went down street to get someone to call

no set pattern of mom with child care - she works M-F

not seeking charges as of now, still active investigation

boy was dead several hours before he was found

boys father lives out of state - not directly involved with the child

age of mom unknown

he doesnt have boys name (sigh) but will release boy and moms name shortly

to leave a 2 yr old unattended for any reason any time can result in neglet charges

reiterates - everyone needs to be alert, aware of kids in cars and how dangerous it is

Shelby Township — Police are trying to determine who was responsible for a 2-year-old boy who died Tuesday after being left unattended in a parked minivan for several hours outside his home.

The boy’s mother had gone to work at her job in Rochester on Tuesday, but it was unclear who was charged with the task of looking over the toddler, who was found unresponsive in a Dodge minivan just after 6 p.m., said Shelby Township Police Chief Roland Woelkers.

“It could have been a babysitter, the grandparents or the mother,” Woelkers said.

Police were called at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday to the 2000 block of Marmoor Drive to reports that the boy was unresponsive in a parked vehicle at a residence near Hamlin and Dequindre, a news release issued Tuesday says...
