ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - As the search for a missing Aberdeen woman continues, many rumors are circulating among the town's residents.

Teresa Ewing, 26, has been missing for over a week, and the man the Aberdeen Police Department has arrested in connection to the crime isn't talking.

Vehicle after vehicle, each full of concerned citizens, circled the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery as residents hoped to find closure.

"It's not just her family," one resident said. "Everybody is just waiting to see if she's okay or not. If not, at least let her rest in peace the right way."

Residents flocked to the cemetery after hearing Cadaver Dogs had found the body.

One resident said she heard from another citizen that the dogs brought investigators to a newly dug grave.

"Two separate dogs did the same thing, so they were trying to get permission to dig the grave up to see if they could find the body," she said.

ABERDEEN – Another day of searching for a missing Aberdeen woman yielded no results Thursday.

Teresa Ewing, 25, has been missing since Sunday and the Aberdeen Police Department, with the help of 20 volunteers, combed two areas in the latest search but found nothing.
“Usually we find blood or clothing, but there hasn’t been anything. We don’t have anything else to go off of for now,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle.

State marshals in Oxford have relayed information to the APD from cellphone activity from Ewing and a former boyfriend, who is currently in custody for allegedly taking Ewing’s vehicle.

According to Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell, an arrest has been made in connection to the Teresa Ewing murder case. Ewing, 25, was last seen by her family Aug. 25, 2013, and her remains were located in a wooded area off of Peacock Alley 19 days later on Sept. 13.

Bryan O’Neal Lyons, 33, of Aberdeen was arrested Aug. 3 and has been charged with first-degree murder. He was indicted by the grand jury the same day.

“The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Cold Case Unit had been working very diligently on the case. Our agent said it was one of the most difficult cases he’s ever worked in his nearly three decades as a law enforcement officer,” said Warren Strain, public affairs officer with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

According to Strain, Ewing was murdered on or about the day she was reported missing.
