RSPCA staff, an ambulance and the police all arrived at the property in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire after receiving calls for help.
The ferret, nicknamed Fred, attacked 46-year-old Merrell Smith outside the door of her home for an hour.

"It just literally went for me. I tried to shoo it away but it just kept going for me and going for me," Smith said.

After lunging at Smith's 24-year-old neighbor Stephen Hornby, the ferret was eventually coaxed into a cat carrying case using a piece of ham.
When the RSPCA inspector came to collect the animal, he was also bitten.
"The ferret did not appear to have been handled much and was not very friendly," said a spokesman for the charity.
