A teenage boy is accused of killing a 2-year-old girl and now police are investigating the girl's mother, News 5 reported.

Kelley Williamson isn't the mother of two girls, as officials first thought. She is a mother of eight children.

In 2001, three of Williamson's children were taken away and her parental rights were terminated, News 5 reported.

A fourth child was adopted by a relative and another daughter is in a group home.

In 2002, Williamson's sixth child died of suffocation when it was 3 weeks old. The death was ruled accidental.

Most recently, her 2-year-old daughter, Emily Johnson, died while being watched by Williamson's 17-year-old boyfriend.

News 5 learned Friday that Williamson's 8-month-old daughter Alysa was also allegedly abused. She had a lacerated liver and is in foster care, News 5 reported.

Williamson insisted she never abused her children and that she was a good mother, but a relative tells a different story.

Manning has legal custody of three of Williamson's biological children and is glad that an investigation is finally taking place, News 5's Courtis Fuller reported.

"I wouldn't even describe her as a mother at all," Manning said. "For once, out of eight children, she needs to be held accountable. She has not been held accountable for any of these other children.

"She was not held accountable when the (now) 10-year-old weighed 18 pounds when he was 2 years old. She was not held accountable when my 7-year-old was covered in bruises. She wasn't held accountable for any of this.

"She had a baby three years ago who died mysteriously and she gave two different stories."

A teenage boy is behind bars Thursday after he was arrested and accused of beating a 2-year-old girl to death.

Investigators said 2-year-old Emily Johnson died Wednesday after she was allegedly punched in the head by her mom's 17-year-old boyfriend, News 5's Courtis Fuller reported.

The teen was alone with the child and baby-sitting when the assault happened Sunday night or early Monday, police said.

"She was laying on the floor on a blanket, barely breathing," said Kelly Williamson, Emily's mother. "I turned on the light to check on her and seen the bruise and I asked him what ... happened to my baby. He swore up and down (that) he didn't know."

The teen, who was charged with assault after the girl was hospitalized, will now face more serious charges, police said.

"Even if the police and the justice department doesn't do anything, God has a certain place in hell for people like that," Williams said. "He'll be dealt with."

The investigation is continuing.

August 2005:

A Kenton County grand jury indicted a 17-year old for murder Friday in the beating death of a Covington toddler in April.

The murder charge means James Lester Messer Jr. will be tried as an adult for the killing...

Crockett said Messer's attorney had filed several motions, including one for a psychiatric evaluation, but they were dismissed.

July 2006:

A Kenton County judge on Tuesday set an October trial date for a teenager charged with killing the toddler he'd been babysitting.

Circuit Judge Steve Jaeger ordered that James L. Messer Jr. stand trial beginning Oct. 23.

Messer, now 18, was 17 when he was charged with killing 2-year-old Emily Johnson at her Crescent Avenue home in Covington on the night of April 10, 2005.

Police said Messer admitted that he punched the child three to four times in the face. His attorney disputes that.
