LE has checked surveillance tapes that were available. Dogs are out. Many trails around. Will let people know if more volunteers are needed. People are providing food, water, whatever is needed.

I posted this as soon as I saw it (this is my local area, sort of). Feel free to edit however it need to be! Sorry.

DS finally gets why I won't let 'just ride his bike around the block' or I won't 'just let him ride two streets over to visit his friend', the world is not a safe place for our children anymore... period, even in a neighborhood your father (as my son's did) grew up in. It is not safe ANYWHERE anymore!

My prayers are with this family tonight. I do hope this young boy just wandered off, or 'ran away'. Anything more breaks my heart.
Your son is as safe as he would have been in the 1950's, when kids rode bikes around their neighborhoods.

Violent crime has not risen against strangers since then. Your son is as safe as you were, in the "good old days". The only thing that has changed is our obsession with crime, and our access to news stories.

So sad that your son is terrified. There is really NO NEED for him to be. Stranger abductions are excessively rare.

Low tonight is supposed to be 60+ degrees, that's a good thing.
Mid 80's tomorrow with possible rain. Also a good thing.
    Very moderate weather and temperatures.

It's perfect, I just wanted to add the "AMBER ALERT" to the title.
It gets more attention that way I think.

(Plus I'd also like some input on why they issued an Amber Alert.
Do they know something we don't, or are they just being cautious?)

I found Tipton's on Masons Ct (0.9 miles) and also Lowrey Pl (1.8miles) from the Kroger at 4900 Port Royal Rd. Do we know which street he lives on that he left on his bike from?

Whether this is true or not, (not doubting you, just haven't seen those statics) why would I want to take the chance on the rare 'stranger' abduction and let him be another statistic on WS?

I would rather have my son terrified and whole than feel safe and in pieces or in a shallow grave.

    Live update: Still missing.

Hundreds of volunteers, that sounds much more accurate.
Still an ongoing search through the area.
May have to venture out from this area.

Left residence at 2:30pm, last seen leaving his house.
Trying to coordinate everyone with so many volunteers and jurisdictions.
Volunteers are doing a great job for us right now.
So beneficial to us, just coordinating them is going to be the tough part.

In Tennessee, you don't NEED a vehicle description to announce an Amber Alert. Most of the time, just because the child has been missing too long is enough to make that leap.

This is not true in ALL cases, but in cases with very young children, and especially, like in this case, his bike was found, it is enough for the TBI to get involved!

    Gotta love the TBI!

    TBI involvement = Amber Alert!

LE on again for update. 100's of volunteers. Coordinating them is tough part. Those who want to help, keep your eyes open and if you hear or see anything let LE know. Search will go through the night if necessary.

The people in the area are already planing to wear blue tomorrow for Ben.
They are also planning to meet at 7:15am in the parking lot to pray for Ben and his family.

I think I was wrong. Saw a pic on FB and thought it was him. But you are right this came up in a google search:

"Last seen on his bike in Pipkin Hills/Mason Ct"

ETA: When I map Pipkin Hills, there is a Pipkin Hills Dr very close to Masons Ct.

Kissed my 11 year old sweet boy and hugged him extra tight before bed... just where Ben needs to be. Come home soon, little buddy.

I'm a good bit south, but Ben's picture is all over my FB feed. If he's been taken down 65S, people are on the look out for him!
