The police had a search helicopter flying over our houses in Lake Villa yesterday afternoon, but that ping way down in Des Plaines sure makes it seem unlikely he ever made it back up here near home. I can't blame them for searching everywhere along his usual route home, though.

His wife released a message via the FB group. Basically saying, "we are limited with the information we can release to the public because this is an ongoing investigation." So, there are things that are not being said! (Assuming we trust that the admin of that group knows the family.)

She's also thankful for the suggestions coming in on FB.
    Eternally optimistic!

    Hoping to find:

Anyone remember the missing case with Nicolas Fransico I think hiis name was? This case sounds so familiar to his. THAT Nicolas did indeed leave the area and started a new life in another state. He also had called the wife and said he was on the way home from work.

Prayers to the family and Nicolas!

After hearing the phone call with his employer was about traffic if makes sense he may have exited the interstate at Touhy to go a different route. However, taking alternate route all the way to Lake Villa makes no sense if he was headed home. If anything he would have exited and then taken other routes north then jumped back on the interstate after getting around traffic. Did anyone travel the same route on Friday around that time, was there abnormally conjested traffic?

Then there's the cell phone ping at 10:28 pm near the toll plaza he passed at 5:30. That throws off the theory of taking side streets home and accidently driving in a lake, ravine, or forest preserve. I'll go back to my theory he exited at Touhy and stopped at the casino or at a bar and encountered foul play later in evening. All of the suburbs near where he went missing all the way to Lake Villa are fairly safe as others have mentioned. Sure random crime can happen anywhere but it would more likely happen near a casino as casino can draw a criminal element as there are large sums of money involved. Has anyone heard whether it has been ruled out that he was at the casino? Has surveillance video been reviewed? Was he carrying large sums of cash? Any ATM withdrawals from his account that day or few days before?

Everything sounds to squeaky clean for me, possibly there is something going on in his life that isn't being reported.

Logic would lead us to believe Nick met foul play.....
But my gut says voluntary disappearance.

On the FB page, they say that tapes from the casino have all been reviewed. (surprising, really, that they were able to have this done so quickly, IMO)
    Just my opinion, of course.

I haven't heard that the casino was ruled out, but the Facebook page admin did say that it was checked.

I'm with you on the possible casino idea and then something bad happened to him later, BUT that doesn't really fit with him calling his wife to tell her he was on the way home. Why would he do that if he was planning on making a casino stop? I've been wrestling with that question.

You would think a sudden stop at the casino would only happen if someone had called or texted him to meet up, if he was not a casino-goer as a rule. Or really, stopping off anywhere for more than a few minutes, he probably would have called or been called. So what could have happened right after his known calls, resulting in his phone still being around there hours later?? Did he or someone else toss the phone? Has searching for the phone been done? Just so weird and a lot like Robert Mayer.
    Just my opinion, of course.

Nick's wife posted a very heartfelt and touching message on the Facebook page. He sounds like a great guy, and she said she is doing everything possible.

I can't even imagine what she's going through. Hopefully he makes it home soon.

This has bothered me since I read it yesterday. I can understand asking those who do search not to touch any possible evidence and to alert authorities immediately but why no searching at all. Just seems like an odd request to me.

There are a number of similarities, but Nicholas Francisco had a very troubled childhood and his father walked out when NF was a teenager. NF also left a receipt for condoms on his office desk and a sordid internet trail. I haven't heard that Nick Steward had anything but a normal loving childhood. According to the property tax records, his parents appear to have cosigned his home mortgage. They are in his wedding pictures and one of the early articles mentioned that he spoke to his parents on Friday as well as his wife.

I'm no longer sure what is logical in this case and my gut won't commit so I keep weighing the possibilities in my mind. I guess nothing will surprise me no matter which way this turns out.

I posted this same thought awhile back....Supposedly all parking lots up to Wisconsin and O'Hare parking lots as well were searched. I will look for link to reference. It was from FB. Just seems really unlikely to me, imo.

I'm not sure that this blog ^^^can be considered MSM.

Also, a few posts back it states that all parking lots almost to WI had been searched. I seriously doubt that- there are approximately 1.5 jillion parking lots in that part of the world (give or take). Ain't no way every jurisdiction has searched every lot. MOO of course.

Does anyone know if S. 2700 River Rd address has been searched for his phone? In the event it was tossed somewhere nearby? I visited the office building and saw mostly asphalt parking surrounding the building and the forest preserve on the other side of the road. I wonder if the roof has been searched and the forest preserve near the road?

I had dinner with a 911 dispatcher recently and was told cell phones made after 2007 can be located within 30' or less.

With the idea of him stopping somewhere - I'm presuming a decent guy, who's told his wife he's on his way home, doesn't just decide 'hey I'll go to a bar' or the casino or whatever, without at the very least letting his wife know that's what he's doing. Makes not much difference, I know, but the idea that he stopped someplace for a significant length of time for innocent reasons and then got caught up in foul play doesn't seem likely IMO.

Also, to let your wife know you're on your way, if he was planning to stop to secretly gamble, or do something else secret, seems to me that's risky - you're putting an automatic time limit on your activities - there's only so much time 'bad traffic' can account for! I guess it's possible, still, but does to me make some stuff seem less likely.

So IMO he was either being honest to his wife, and something happened, or he was lying, and planned to 'disappear', OR he was telling the truth but leaving out a secret stop he was planning on making but that he wasn't expecting to take long - and something happened there.

The phone ping - I wonder if it's possible the ping is from the roadside? Did someone say the area it pinged from backs onto the highway?

Ah, but it's not final! It will re-open if something new turns up.

But you're right, this case has a similar feel to it.
