Searchers find mobile phone, handbag and jacket

    October 10, 2013

ITEMS belonging to missing University of Tasmania student Natasha Narang have been found near the Tamar River.

Police and State Emergency Service volunteers yesterday located Mrs Narang's handbag, mobile phone and a jacket she was wearing when last seen at the university's Newnham campus on Friday

The items were found on a grassed area near the bank of the Tamar River, metres from the Armco railing along the Northern Outlet. Mrs Narang, 30, was last seen in Plumer St, Mowbray, about 1:45pm on October 4, when dropped off by her husband, Sandeep.

"We'd like to call for anyone who was driving on the road at that time who may have seen a person crossing or who may have even seen a person on the bank of the river," he said

ITEMS belonging to missing University of Tasmania student Natasha Narang have been found near the Tamar River.

    OCTOBER 10, 2013

Excerpt: "Her husband said he told police "many times" to look in the area and was upset it had taken six days to find the items.

"I think the processing is slow. The officer is telling me that it is our system that we work that way and now, as her husband, I am saying they must work faster."

Insp Johnston said there was no basis for an earlier search."

I only just heard about this today. I hope this sweet lady is found soon.

I hope she has just run away. This is OH's home town. He says that to get into the Tamar river near the uni campus- if one was trying to commit suicide by drowning- you would have to go through lots of blackberry bushes, and other thick brush. Also that you would expect to find a body quite quickly. (I guess this depends on tides etc)
The husband dropped her off at the uni, but instead of going to the meeting that she had scheduled, she was filmed on CCTV-doing something that the police have refused to announce- and then her personal possessions were found near the river. In local newspapers, (The Examiner), her husband said that they were very close- hardly spending a minute apart, but her family said she was beaten and harassed by her husband and in laws. I hope Natasha is ok, just clearing her head somewhere.

A body discovered on a river bank north of Launceston is believed to be that of a student who disappeared last month.

Natasha Narang was reported missing to the University of Tasmania in early October.
A search turned up items belonging to her on the edge of the Tamar River several days later.
About noon on Sunday, police were called to a section of the river near Rosevears were a body had been discovered 15 metres above the high water mark.

I see that the body found was confirmed as Natasha on the 13th December 2013 but no more news has been reported on the case. I imagine that is because they found no suspicious circumstances as suggested in this article:
