FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -
The Fayetteville Police Department said a 2-year-old girl died after accidentally shooting herself Saturday afternoon.
...
Currently no charges have been filed yet, but the police say as the investigation continues, that will most likely change.

That is the DUMBEST headline I have read in a while. A 2 yr. old does not accidentally shoot themselves. Nope, a 2 yr old is curious and because a gun was left unsecured, and she doesn't know any better, she shoots. Why was nobody watching this child? Let alone leave a gun in her reach? :stormingmad:

Sorry, this was no accident to me. Totally preventable! :maddening:

"The child sustained the injuries due to an unsecured handgun in the residence. We have obtained that handgun," said Cpt. Charles Hunter with the Fayetteville Police Department

19 years old and already a convicted felon, nice.

GOOD! Idiot! :maddening: Some people should not be allowed to have children. :twocents:

What a fantastic place to leave a loaded gun when you have a curious two year old wandering the house. :maddening:

Rest in peace, darling girl. I hope you didn't suffer. :rose:

I'm SO sick of reading stories like this, but they never end :( Glad the dad is being charged in her death. RIP, little one :(

Unbelievable. Why can't people put their guns away in a safe spot. It is not that hard. RIP sweet little one.

Oct 2013:

I wonder - did he dump it behind the neighbour's house still loaded, for some other kid to find? Did he put it there whilst the baby lay dying on the floor, before getting medical attention? And how was he going to explain her gunshot wound to LE? Oh - she fell down the stairs and hit her head, or oh, some intruder did it?
