I taped JVM and am watching now.

- 3 people dead, 4 wounded
- Police looking for a white Chevy Impala with multiple people inside, it sounds like the shooter got away.
- could have been a targeted hit because it was the barbershop's busiest time of day

Unbelievable.

Jane asked: Is this the new normal?

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and families.

Sorry its taking me so long to get articles up. My computer is soooooo slow and it is very difficult to switch between windows.

"Detroit police say gunfire broke out at a barbershop on the city's east side, leaving at least three people dead.

Police spokeswoman Kelly Miner said the shootings happened about 6 p.m. at Al's Barber Shop. Miner says nine people were shot and three of them are confirmed dead.

Miner says she doesn't know the ages or sexes of the victims or how many people may have been shooting.

The barbershop is in a strip mall along a major road.

Police Chief James Craig told reporters at the scene that "suspects engaged a couple of victims" and says "several shots were fired."

Craig and Miner say they have few other details on the shooting."

"It happened in the 5200 block of East Seven Mile at Rockie’s Barber Shop around 6 p.m.,

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said three people were confirmed dead at the scene and another may have died. All of the people shot are male, but no ages or names have been released.

Police are looking for two cars, a black Chevrolet Impala and a white Chevrolet Impala, that may have bullet holes in the back and have a stretch of the road closed off near the scene.

“I can’t even imagine what would cause this type of violence,” Craig said from the scene.

He said the business is known for gambling, but the motive in the shooting is unclear and it’s not known if it’s related to a gambling debt."

This article was posted just mins ago and is reporting yet more victims and that it is possible that there may be more than three dead. It also says they are looking for a black Chevy Impala and that the motive may be related to a gambling debt.

With so many victims, and the possibility that more than one car with multiple passengers I wonder if there was more than one shooter.

It does seem like these kinds of shootings have become the norm. So, so horrible.

Well the title of this article is '10 Shot, at least 2 dead', but url and in the vid spokeswoman Miner state says 9 were shot and and at least two are dead, so I'm thinking we should disregard the title.

I guess two vehicles were shooting back and forth. There was a shot into the building and people came running out of the barbershop to take cover in other businesses. LE is still trying to determine if the barber shop was targeted, however people inside the business were playing dice and it is known for gambling.

To be quite honest, this sounds like it might be gang-related to me, and not necessarily targeted at the barber shop at all. I don't think it's like the mass shootings that have been going on lately.

Just my opinion, of course.

Detroit — A third person has died in a shooting that wounded another seven at a barbershop that police say is known for illegal gambling on the city’s east side.

Sgt. Mike Woody said Thursday that a third person involved in Wednesday’s incident, which occurred about 6:15 p.m. at Al’s Barber Shop in the 5100 block of East Seven Mile, died at a local hospital.

Police say the motive of the shooting was unclear, but it possibly was connected with gambling that occurred at the shop or a debt owed to the shooters. Witnesses said two men barged through the back door with assault rifles and fired off rounds, spraying a crowd of people, including barbers, patrons and others socializing in the shop.

On Wednesday, Police Chief James Craig said “suspects engaged a couple of victims” before “several shots were fired.” He said it’s not known if any of the victims fired back...

From your MSM link
"Craig said investigators are questioning a man in connection with the barbershop shooting who was arrested on an unrelated charge in Rochester. Craig said the individual is a convicted felon who was wearing body armor at the time of his arrest. "

Maybe my scanner ears aren't bad after all! Whew.

Haven't lived in Detroit since 1971, but I grew up less than five miles from the site of the shooting. :(

haven't lived there since 1991, but also grew up very close and have family right there. Hardly seems random, just seems terribly sad for all, not the least of which, the City of Detroit.
