Chris Dankovich was attentive in class, liked camouflage clothing, had a group of friends and seemed to do well in school.

Neighbors and acquaintances said the 15-year-old Rochester Adams freshman seemed to be a "good kid."

What they didn't know, police say, is that Dankovich visited gun-making Web sites on his home computer, made some of his own weapons out of PVC pipe and visited pornographic Web sites.

And when his mom recently confronted him about the materials under his bed and on his computer, police believe he stabbed her 111 times and then fled to a family cabin in northern Michigan.

The two images of Dankovich clashed as he was arraigned Tuesday in Rochester Hills' 52-3 District Court, charged as an adult with murder.

A 16-year-old boy pleaded guilty Friday to murdering his mother by stabbing her 111 times last year after she discovered he was trying to learn how to make a bomb.

Under a deal with prosecutors, Christopher Dankovich agreed to serve up to 34 years in prison.

"He didn't want to leave prison in a casket," prosecutor Lisa Ortlieb Gorcyca said.

Had he been convicted of first-degree murder, Dankovich would have faced a mandatory life term.

Dankovich was 15 when his mother, Diane Michele, 50, was found dead last spring in her home in Rochester Hills, just north of Detroit. The teen was arrested later that day at his family's cabin in St. Helen, more than 100 miles away.

Sentencing was scheduled for March 6.

A pro-active person is killed because a child didn't agree with this. Good Lord,where will this all end?

The sentence is too light! He should have gotten at least one year prison time for EACH stab wound plus 25 years if the victim dies as a result of the wounds.

soooooo.... how many more like this will happen before our society is willing to discuss human euthanization......?????

He didn't want to leave prison in a casket eh? Well I bet his mom didn't want to end up in a casket after being stabbed ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN times!

This little creep AGREED to serve 36 years :furious: Since when does the killer get to agree on anything to do with their sentence? What is wrong with this justice system!!! This kid stabs his MOTHER 111 TIMES!! He should never have gotten any kind of a plea bargain. Mom didn't want him making bombs so let's resolve the problem by stabbing her to death. This creepy kid should never get to breathe fresh air again. I just can't believe that the Pros and the judge would make this kind of a deal. His mother was young. Guess she should have had an abortion instead of giving birth to this monster. It just makes me furious. So what if he didn't want to die in prison. I'll bet his mom wasn't ready to die at such a young age either. I'd like to write the Pros and the judge a letter. They don't belong in the positions they are in.
