CA - Stephen Pease, 57, Fort Bragg, 28 Oct 2013

Strange story, but thought it was worth posting here. Unfortunately the only article I've found so far doesn't list much information about him including his age, but Steve Pease is missing from Roseville CA. The video says a missing person's report has also been filed in Fort Bragg, CA (roughly 4 hours away from Roseville).

Steve is the owner of Sammy Hagar's restaurant in Roseville called "Sammy's Rockin' Island Bar and Grill." They don't give an age, but I'm guessing 50s? ETA: I found some older articles about the restaurant itself and it says he owns the property and is a "local developer," so I'm a little fuzzy on if he owns the restaurant or not, but he's definitely closely tied to it.

According to the story below, "Steve Pease hasn't been seen for weeks, and now, Sammy's Rockin' Island Bar and Grill has been shut down."

There's not much to it, but here's a Facebook for the restaurant: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sammy...61312937269710.

I haven't been there personally but friends in the Roseville area have and I know it's a pretty popular place. The restaurant's website is down and the restaurant is currently closed due to "unforeseen circumstances."

I found a FB that I think belongs to Steve but I'm not 100% sure, so I'll hold off on linking it for now. If it's the right page, the guy looks really familiar to me - I think my husband may know him. I'll have to ask tomorrow if he knows more info. I hope there's more info out there somewhere about Steve. Out of everything I've found so far there's not a whole lot to go on - no description, not even an age, but his family must be concerned because they've filed missing persons reports in two different cities. So strange.

Here's another story that says he was last seen on Oct. 28th and was reported missing by an employee, not the family. Maybe that is why there are missing reports for 2 different cities. In any case it sounds like business had a less than stellar reputation and had only been open for a year.

^^ I am not seeing anything about "less than stellar reputation" around the business. It seems like it was a big part of revitalizing the downtown area.

Starting to get some more news coverage. Note that this articles says his name is Stephen Pease, and that he was last seen on October 25.

There is a picture of Mr. Pease in this article about the construction of the restaurant:

Now trying to link directly to the picture. The caption with the pictures says that he is the man standing the center. Online searches show that he is in his mid to late 50's.

Steve Pease, center, gives a tour of Sammy's Rockin' Island Bar and Grill, owned by rocker Sammy Hagar, which is still under construction. The Vernon Street location is slated to open in mid-September.

Thanks all for the additional info! I wanted to search more today but I'm currently late for an appointment. I'm very glad to see more info about him. I look forward to diving in more later.

My appointment's actually in Roseville, so maybe I'll swing by the restaurant area on my way back and see if there's any more info around (posters etc.). Weird story.

I don't know much about the restaurant itself except that it's an extension of the Sammy Hagar restaurant "line." He has the very successful Cabo Wabo Cantina up in South Lake Tahoe as well. I only know what friends and family who live/work out there have told me, but they said it's been really popular. My Dad says it's "too loud" even outside lol... but that probably means it's attracting a good crowd. Sammy Hagar was just there in September for the new Roseville Town Square opening, and IIRC he got some kind of thank you from the city for his efforts (more here... not exactly typical MSM but I hope it's acceptable: http://celebrityexaminer.com/2013/08...rns-roseville/).

Shoot, I so want to keep digging into this but I really have to get going. Hopefully we can continue to find more info.

Read the comments for that article and then in the comments theres a link to the business Yelp page with reviews.

Comments under an article and Yelp reviews are not considered MSM. Reviewers at other food and entertainment sites, which are considered to be more reliable, give the restaurant basically middle to high ratings. I still think the "less than stellar reputation" comment is harsh.

Many thanks to whoever updated Steve/Stephen's name on this thread. It sounds like he mostly goes by Stephen, at least professionally.

    Here's one more article I found: http://www.kcra.com/news/local-news/...paign=kcra%2B3

I did drive by there after my appointment in Roseville today but didn't see much other than I can confirm it's currently closed.

A little from the above article: "Sammy Hagar, the former lead singer of Van Halen, licensed his name to be used for the restaurant but is not one one of its owners.

Scott Alvord, president of the Downtown Roseville Merchants Association, who owns another restaurant across the street from Sammy's, said Pease's business appeared to be doing well.

"He's just very well respected and very trusted," Alvord said. "He's made a lot of good decisions down here in helping the community out, helping other businesses get started.""

On a personal note this guy looks very familiar to me. I'm almost sure I've met him, and I think my husband has worked on one or more of his cars before.

I'm so confused by the different dates and even locations of the mission person reports. I mean Fort Bragg is less than a day's drive from Roseville, but why would he be reported both places and why the delay?

No, I didn't mean to imply that they were MSM, that's why I did not include a direct link, same with facebook. Personally I depend a lot on Yelp reviews on a local level and they seem fairly accurate. JMO but when I read about developers and city revitalization my hinky meter goes off due to past experience. This all just sounds so oddly familiar. I hope things work out for everyone involved.

He does look very familiar, doesn't he? Here's a Fort Bragg news link with some more information about when he was no longer in contact with family and when he was actually last seen.

Roseville restaurant owner missing; business closed

    http://www.sacbee.com/2013/11/12/590...r-missing.html

".... Pease spoke to his ex-wife by phone from Las Vegas on Oct. 28, mentioning that he needed to “clear his head,” Maudru said. He said he wouldn’t speculate on what might have been troubling Pease....."

No calls, and very little trace of him. He sold his Jaguar, rented a car and the trail leads to Fort Bragg – his credit card was last used at a hotel there on Nov. 3.

The hope was that rental car – a silver Chevy Captiva, due back last Tuesday – would tell them something.

A warrant from Fort Bragg police turned on the car’s OnStar system.

“That was turned on Friday of last week, but unfortunately there has not been any signal from the car,” said Chris Maudru, a friend of Pease.
I don't know much about Onstar. Is it unusual for it not to respond like this? What could cause it to not send a signal? The missing Chevy Captiva has Oregon plates, 500 GKN.

No signal from the car; did they call? And how is it not "sending out a signal" unless he ripped it out; cut the wires and that wouldn't be hard to do. This is looking more and more like a vol runaway. Was the business in the rears?

This article, which was already posted, says that the business was doing good, but he might be having some personal financial problems.

    http://fox40.com/2013/11/12/rosevill...#ixzz2kX3VGcUk

The bar and grill seemed to be doing well. But, adding to the odd list, Pease’s home is up for sale – and some close to him say he may have been behind on some loan payments.
This article says the car might be in a parking garage or in a remote area without a signal. http://www.sacbee.com/2013/11/12/590...r-missing.html

With help from the police, Maudru said, he persuaded the car manufacturer to turn on the On-Star navigation/tracking system, but the system was unable to acquire a signal. That is not direct evidence that the vehicle is not operable, Maudru said; it could be in a parking garage or, more likely, in a remote area without service.
The article says that the Roseville police are not investigating, so that might account for why there are two missing reports - Maybe because friends are trying to get LE to start an investigation?
Roseville police are not ready to mount an investigation into Pease’s whereabouts.
