Ronald Phillips, Death Row Inmate, Decides To Donate Organs

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A convicted child killer scheduled for execution this week requested Monday that his organs be donated to help his ailing mother and sister.

Death row inmate Ronald Phillips would also be willing to donate organs to other individuals if it's not possible to help his relatives, his attorney said in a letter to the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Ohio Death Row Inmate Awaiting Two-Drug Injection Execution Says Doctor Couldn’t Find Veins

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A prison doctor couldn’t find veins in the arms of a death row inmate during a pre-execution checkup, the inmate said Friday by video in rare court testimony.
Condemned child killer Ronald Phillips said the doctor could only find a vein on his right hand following an examination Oct. 18 at the medical center at Chillicothe Correctional Institution south of Columbus.
“I guess the Lord hid my veins from them,” Phillips said, referring to a comment he made that day after the checkup ended.

I haven't had a chance yet to read the documents yet, but this has been all over the news here and most people are in favor of him being able to donate his organs.

Here is some information on this issue and why it won't and can't be done :
