    OK - Katori Smith, 1, Tulsa; 17 November 2013

Amber Alert issued in alleged abduction of 1-year-old girl in Tulsa. (Tulsa World)
Tulsa police are issuing an Amber Alert for a 1-year-old girl who they believe was abducted Sunday afternoon.

Katori Smith, described as a mixed-race girl with dark hair and dark eyes, was last seen at 3:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Peoria Avenue, police said. She was wearing a "baby blue" shirt with brown sleeves, brown pants and black leopard-print shoes.

Police believe that Charlie Wilson, a 36-year-old Indian man, took the child. Wilson was last seen wearing a blue shirt with horizontal stripes, dark blue jeans and a ball cap.

He is described as have a lot of tattoos and is believed to be driving a maroon Chevrolet Caprice with a University of Oklahoma sticker on the back window or on the back of the trunk.

He appears Native American Indian...not Indian Indian...wonder why they didn't call him Native American?

My guess is they are on a reservation now. Good luck.

On the emergency broadcast it said he had made death threats to the mother about the child.

I wonder how he's related to her.

Some prefer American Indian or Indian over Native or Native American. I prefer to be called Indian, my self.

True. However, journalism style guides invariably use the term "Native American," to avoid confusion with natives of India.
