ORLANDO, Fla. — A judge has denied bond to a 33-year-old Orlando man charged with fatally shooting his wife, who was eight months pregnant with twins.

Michael Boyce wore a protective vest during his first court appearance Saturday as he faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his 23-year-old wife.

He initially told deputies Alexis Boyce shot herself in the head, but later said he accidentally shot her.

Alexis Boyce and one of the twin were pronounced dead. The other twin remains hospitalized.

Second twin dies after mother's shooting death
Michael Boyce, 33, will face a third first-degree murder charge, Sheriff's Office says.

Fannie Huntley rocked her 3-pound, 14-ounce grandson Jael and sang to him until she was hoarse.

Before last week, Huntley dreamed of the day she would gather Jael and his twin brother Kael around her table and bake cookies with them — just as she did with their mother Alexis Boyce.

But on Thursday, after spending a week in the neonatal intensive care unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, Jael died peacefully in Huntley's arms.

Instead of celebrating Christmas with their daughter and new grandsons, Fannie and Leon Huntley will bury Jael, Kael and Alexis together after the Thanksgiving holiday.

"There's three empty spaces in my family," Fannie Huntley said at the hospital Friday. "I can't tell you the grief I bear."
