Stout was last seen in the vicinity of the 200 block of South Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey during the early morning hours of January 13, 2005. She disappeared with her one-year-old daughter, Quranah Gilliam.

Quranah was found safe in the Bronx in June 2009, four and a half years after her disappearance. Her father, Laquan Gilliam, gave her to a family and asked them to take care of her as a favor to him. He told them her name was Corrona Brooks. He promised to pick her up in a few days, but he never returned; he was arrested on drug charges and incarcerated. The family raised the child as their own tried to find out who she belonged to, but they were unable to determine this because they didn't know her real name. DNA testing verified Quranah's identity and she was sent to live with her cousins. The family who had cared for her has not been charged. There is still no indication of her mother's whereabouts. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

Surprised by how little there is about there about her case, especially with the whole detail about her daughter. I'm pretty sure that Laquan Gilliam must be their prime suspect, really?!

NamUs has a record for her too, which also says " may be in the company of an unknown black male individual."

However, the NamUs record hasn't been updated since 2008!

What a strange story! Thank goodness the daughter is safe.

The most recent info I found searching tonight is this --

http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local&id=6863109

-- a 2009 article and video about the disappearances. Based on this, it appears that Sherrie has a second child, an older boy named Jarrell Stout.

There is also this --

-- which suggests that Laquan was up for parole in Sept. 2010. He was sentenced to five years total in...2005. If that's right, he has certainly been released by now.

Sherrie Lynette Stout was 35 when she was last seen on the 200 block of South Street in Elizabeth in January 2005. She was with her 1-year-old daughter at the time. The child was found years later in the Bronx staying with friends of her father, police said.

Sherrie could not be located, but the investigation into her disappearance has remained active. In 2018, investigators searched her former home in Virginia after hearing allegations she might be buried there, but found nothing, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement at the time.
