GUILTY KY - Madisyn Davis, 2, beaten to death, Whitley County, 20 Nov 2013

Two-year-old Madisyn Davis died after her mother discovered her unresponsive last Wednesday and then made a desperate call to 911.

Police say the child died of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.

"From what I saw visibly, and from what the medical examiner said, the child suffered."

Another child left in care of mom's boyfriend & something bad happens. So sad. Seems to be a new thread every week. . . And, very often, the mom is at work, while the deadbeat is watching the kids.

“The M.E. conveyed that it was blunt force trauma to the head over a two-week period,” Bird said. “There were very recent trauma injuries and older trauma injuries.”

"On Monday, Nov. 18, she stayed with the child’s grandmother, Bird said. “There were no reports of any injuries,” he said.

However, on Nov. 19, the 2-year-old stayed home, according to the chief. “On the night of the 19th the child was left in the care and custody of her boyfriend,” Bird said. “And on the 20th, the child was discovered not breathing in her bed.”

Bird said visible injuries could be seen on the child's face.

I really wonder if the grandmother knew. How could she not? There were older and newer injuries. I don't know if the "visible injuries" talked about above were after she stayed with grandma. This had been going on at least 2 weeks. Grandmother had seen her only 2 days before she died from the abuse. Grandmothers are usually up close with their young grandkids - kissing, hugging, cuddling them - she saw nothing?

The following link has been updated to include this information: Trina White was arrested in 2011 on meth and child endangerment charges, because police say a child under 12 was present. Nothing ever came of those charges that I could find. No jail time-nothing.

I'm so angry at hearing stories almost exactly like this all the time. Mothers who care more about having a man in their life than the safety of their children.

my math says mom would have a very young (infant) Madisyn or be pregnant with her at that point

Mom just bonded out for something unnamed a few weeks ago, whatever the charge it aligns with Madisyn's father's charges and he is still incarcerated.

Mom hooks up with this lovely man being referred to as the BF and immediately begins living with him.

Think I shall sit on my hands a bit. getting hot under the collar.

She has a history there. Go to "Options" tab, click "Search Type" and select "All" or "Released Inmates" put her name in and you can see her past arrests (for this county at least). You can find the bf that way too. They have both been transferred to other jails because the childs father is still in this jail.
I, too, am having a hard time keeping my cool with this. I'm not a big poster here, but a very frequent reader. Trying my best to do this right so I don't get a TO.

A man has been sentenced to 25 years in jail after pleading guilty in June to the murder of his former girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter.
37-year-old Mark Shane Hyden was sentenced Monday in Whitley County Circuit Court.

It took court officials less than three minutes Monday morning to sentence a Williamsburg woman to 10 years in prison for her role in the killing of her two-year-old daughter in 2013.

Trina Michelle White, 38, was originally charged with murder in connection with Madisyn Davis’ Nov. 20, 2013 death, but pleaded guilty last month to an amended charge of second-degree manslaughter in exchange for prosecutors recommending a 10-year prison sentence.

“We’ll go ahead and sentence her as per the agreement,” Whitley Circuit Judge Paul Winchester said during Monday’s hearing.
