Hey everyone, I didn't see this young man posted anywhere on here. This hits really close home for me and I feel for the family.

Winnipeg police say missing man murdered, make arrest

Winnipeg police have arrested a man for second-degree murder in the case of Robert “Bobby” Thomson, who went missing on July 21, 2012.

Tanner James Prevost, 21, was arrested while in custody on an unrelated manner.

Police allege Thomson and Prevost got in a fight and the altercation ended with Thomson being dumped in the river before Prevost fled.

Hard time for dumping stranger in river to die
Jan 13, 2016

A Winnipeg man who attacked a near stranger and dumped him in the river to die has been sentenced to 11 1/2 years in prison.

Tanner Prevost was originally charged with second-degree murder in the July 2012 killing of 21-year-old Robert (Bobby) Thomson but pleaded guilty to manslaughter at a sentencing hearing last month.

Prosecutors agreed to accept a guilty plea to the reduced charge on the grounds Prevost was intoxicated at the time of the killing.

Prevost returned to court for sentencing Wednesday.

Justice Gerald Chartier called the killing "brutal and callous."

"The initial senseless assault, rendering (Thomson) helpless, dragging him into the river ... these combined actions constitute a high level of moral blameworthiness," Chartier said.

Thomson's body has never been found.
