Reward of $250,000 to solve murder of Pauline Gillard

A $250,000 reward is on offer for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the 1997 murder of Pauline Gillard.

Ms Gillard, 57, died after receiving numerous gunshot wounds at her Balmain home on 18 September, 1997.

The Government originally posted a reward of $100,000 in 2002 for information on the murder which did not result in sufficient evidence to lead to a conviction.

A 2005 inquest into Ms Gillard's death resulted in an open finding.

The allocation of this reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of Police

Murder case was mishandled, court told

November 23, 2005

"If you do have a mum, go home, give her a hug and give her a kiss and tell her how much you love her because we don't have ours any more."

These are the impassioned words of a woman whose mother was shot and killed through her bedroom window in what is believed to be a case of a mistaken identity.

Pauline Gillard, a 57-year-old grandmother, was sitting on her bed playing a hand-held computer game in her Balmain home in September 1997 when she was shot six times in the head

Wow. $250,000.00 reward. I don't think I have ever seen that much in Australian.

The case fell through because of some of the witnesses. Well a lot of water has passed under the bridge since this murder. Hope the reward is very tempting to someone.
