26-year-old Michelle Russ was last seen by family members around 11:30 p.m. on May 9 2013 in the Quartz Hill home she shared with her father and young son. Michelle had been depressed earlier in the day, but by nighttime, she appeared to be fine according to family members.

Michelle told her family that she was going to meet up with some people that she had met earlier in the day. Some time later that night, Michelle tucked her son into bed and then disappeared. When her family members woke up the next morning, Michelle was simply gone. She hasn't been seen or heard from again.

Michelle's sister Christine, stated that Michelle's son misses her really bad. He cries every night when she puts him in bed every night. Michelle is described as 5'2" and 125 lbs. She has blue eyes and blonde hair. She was last seen wearing black pants and a dark shirt (either purple or blue).

Family members have searched extensively for Michelle since her disappearance. The case has been assigned to the LA County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau according to Cold Case Detective Steve Lankford.

“This wasn’t a walk-away. This wasn’t a voluntary missing,” Lankford says.

Michelle was last seen in the Quartz Hill area getting into a vehicle near 51st West, the detective said.

In a major update to the case this week, he said he believed the woman was kidnapped.

He told Kastner he couldn’t give specifics but found red flags that leads him to believe Russ was taken against her will and could be now out-of-state.

“We’re at the point where we need help from the community,” Lankford.

“She left with people she knew, but there’s a good possibility that there was foul play involved,” Lankford said. “Some information has come in that certain people that knew her might have information, but some of these people are reluctant at this time to talk. And there’s some other information that she might have been forced and taken out of the state, but that hasn’t been confirmed,” the detective added.

“She is my twin sister I mean that’s my twin sister. I’ve been with her my whole life I’ve been with her,” says twin Christine Russ. “I’d spend the rest of my life looking for her and I will until something’s found,” she said.

Russ was last seen at her home in the 42000 block of 51st Street west in the Quartz Hill area of Lancaster, California between 11:00 and 11:30 p.m. on May 9, 2013. Earlier that day she had been depressed, but she seemed fine by evening.

She told a relative she was going to meet some people she'd met earlier in the day, and he told her not to. When he called later, she was still home. She disappeared sometime after she tucked her young son in for the night. She has never been heard from again.

Russ's family stated she's easily influenced by other people, and because of her medical problems, they're concerned for her safety. Authorities are investigating Russ's case as a possible homicide; they stated they think people she knew have information as to what happened to her.

There are rumors that the people responsible for Russ's disappearance are also responsible for the disappearance and presumed murder of Monique Figueroa, a local woman who disappeared two years after Russ did. This has not been confirmed. Both cases remain unsolved.

Michelle also suffers from cerebral palsy, and takes medication to prevent seizures. She also has an anxiety disorder.
