Was looking through NAMPN when I found this guy:

    MARC A. JONES

    http://www.nampn.org/cases/jones_marc.html
    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/j/jones_marc.html

Similarities between Jones and the UID:
    • Both are white
    • Both have brown hair
    • Both have a moustache
    • Both men's hair is curly and shoulder-length
    • Both were wearing a t-shirt
    • UID is 30 - 39 years old; Jones was 33
    • UID is 5'6; Jones is only one inch off (5'7)
    • Timing is spot-on. Postmortem interval is one day; Jones went missing a day before the UID was found
    • Location fits. Jones went missing less than 3 hours from where the UID was found

However, the clothing isn't a perfect match (UID was found with brown pants, Jones wore jeans) and Jones's profile doesn't mention any scars or birthmarks. The eye color is also off (UID is listed as green-eyed while Jones's eyes are brown) but I've seen that mistake pretty often, so I'm not too concerned about that.

Neither man has DNA available so no automatic rule-out could be made.

    Niva to Kansas City: https://goo.gl/maps/jex3R

It's hard to believe they wouldn't have checked somebody missing so close to where the UID was found, who's such a close match to the stats.

This is the area where the body was found: https://goo.gl/maps/hcDX3
Broadway is the road that goes across the bridge (US 169); First Street appears to be that unpaved road that runs behind the buildings next to the river. They don't directly intersect and it makes me wonder whether he jumped/was thrown from the bridge.

Activo Gp Genera looks like a European-style corporate name, but googling hasn't turned up a match yet, except for a physical therapy office in Germany (http://www.activo-gp.de/ ).

The timing and location were bothering me for that very reason.

However, it has happened before - Gregory De Vita went missing in 2006, and his body was found only 20.6 miles away and on the same exact day. But, for whatever reason, LE missed it and the body wasn't unidentified until another WebSleuths member (Snufamonbobball) made the connection. That's why I'm not ready to rule Marc Jones out just yet.

Anyways, I looked up Activo Gp Genera (and in quotes so Google would turn up pages with the exact words and order), but the only results I got were the NamUs page and this very thread. I messed with the spelling a bit to see if it may have been misspelled, but no luck.

The part about the UID ending up in the river is interesting. Unfortunately, NamUs doesn't list any circumstances, so I don't know if he was found in the water.
I doubt Jones would make it in Kansas City if he fell into a river in Nixa, though; it's a 178-mile difference and I don't think that'd be possible unless there was a hurricane or some other storm that'd really mess with the water's flow. But it's entirely possible that something happened while he was in Kansas City or a neighboring town there (assuming he's the UID and was fished out of the river).

I'm not clear whether the UID was in the river or just near it. Near, I think. The highway route from Nixa to KC is very direct and even the body was in the water it doesn't have to mean he fell in while he was alive; somebody could have transported and disposed of the body.

I agree, just because they SHOULD have looked at the match doesn't mean they did There are a bunch of other cases where somebody obvious was overlooked or ignored. So I definitely think we should follow up. It looks like a very likely possibility.

That area of Kansas City has homeless shelters nearby. This guy could have been from anywhere. In regards to Jones, do you think anyone would remember him having any reason to go to Kansas City? I live minutes from Nixa and have lived in Kansas City (Mo and Ks) and I only go to KCK to see my kids. When I think of getting away I would think head south to Louisiana, FLorida anywhere that was warm. But again, anything is possible.

There is a "Monster.com" type service in Spain that's called Groupo Activa.

    http://www.grupo-activa.es

Not sure if it's that helpful - I think I found it using google.mx (thinking the UID might be from Mexico). I wish there was a photo of the t-shirt. Something small like a masculine or feminine noun form in another language that's been transcribed incorrectly makes it harder to search.

Looking closely at your find, I realized "Groupo" should be "Grupo" in Spanish and found a couple of international companies that might fit the bill.

http://www.activogrupo.com/home, "experts in outsourcing processes and international transport"

http://grupoactivo.cl/: Active Group is an investment company linked to industry trade shows, meetings, conferences, tourism and entertainment. Our specialty is the production of own authorship fairs, designed to end public, professional and / or specialized.

http://www.g-activo.com/spa/activo.php "Company Consulting Engineering and comprehensive projects, innovation, internationalization, development aid and Commercial Business. We are experts in defining market strategies, business systemization and resolution of the financing of national or international projects." This one might be the same one you found.

I can't make heads or tails of the article in Spanish or English, but "activo" is apparently a Spanish accounting term: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activo_(contabilidad)

The shirt is from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc, so I'm guessing the UD is as well. Check on Mexico, et al's coroner's sites and you will find him. The problem is that I don't know how to do searches for missing people from other countries. There is also the fact that migrants often don't return to their home country for months or years, sometimes not at all, so they will often times not be reported missing for years.

Can somebody tag a Spanish speaker? I am not at all fluent, I only understand a little Spanish. I believe the shirt says something like "money orders made fast", which means the UD has gotten the shirt because in his home country he worked at a money order place, he is from the US in a place near or in Kansas with many Spanish speakers that would have a market you can buy money orders in, or this Latino or even a regular white Kansas dude has bought a cast-off shirt in Spanish at the Good Will, which of course is possible.
