    FL - S.W.J.L., 4, Miami (Litlte Haiti), 13 Dec 2013

City of Miami Police are searching for a 4-year-old girl who was last seen playing with her neighbors outside a home in Little Haiti.

Police said she was playing with neighbors who later went inside while she stayed outside. When they returned, she was gone, according to the neighbors.

SWJL's parents said she is very quiet and does not have a tendency of wandering off. They also said she usually knows not to leave the yard.

The thread title should include her name and city. Is Little Haiti accurate or slang?

You are fine antechinusRAWR, welcome to Websleuths!

Her name... and her resemblance made me a bit sick when I saw it.
I HOPE this has a much happier ending than the last S!

    Okay WTF?
This video and this police woman's statement make it sound like they are getting ready to go home!
They are trying to ascertain if there is anything further they can do?!

You KEEP LOOKING until you FIND the "missing female."
Her name is Shaniya and she is a CHILD.
WHERE is the urgency, she is FOUR YEARS OLD!

"A bloodhound tried to pick up her scent and a chopper with heat sensing technology was launched."

Miami Police launched an all-out effort Friday night to find a missing 4-year-old girl who went missing right outside her Little Haiti home.

A search chopper circled the skies, while bloodhounds, using a scent from her backpack, sniffed the ground below for S. As the hours wore on, authorities were wary that their odds of finding the toddler were growing slimmer.

"We will continue as much we can, trying to think of new things that we haven't touched on as of yet," said Miami Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden. "Our window is closing in."
<IMO this spokeswoman needs experience and/or education in public speaking and PR>

Initially, their efforts turned up no leads. As S' family gathered, the Miami Police Department's Special Victims Unit conducted a grid search, which spanned several blocks in all directions.

This is ridiculous! They need to call in the big guys for help!

She is four years old and this needs to be given the same priority as a potential child abduction.

    From the first link...

All that remained in the yard was the tricycle she had been riding.
Reminds me of Nevaeh too. Hoping S is found quickly.

I have this has a happy ending, but it sounds like one of those stranger abduction cases.

They are wrapping up their search for tonight. "Apparently, she's never outside of her fence when she's at home playing around with her sisters or her friends," said Miami Police Officer Frederica Burden. "It's alarming to them because I guess she was not there, and it's just not a normal thing for her not to be inside of her fence in the yard."

    Wrapping up the search? Seriously?

She has been missing since 4pm. Are there volunteers searching? Is there a command center? Scanner has had nada for the past hour about this.
